Daybreak    701 CT
One month later...

Daybreak was making progress on his magic. It had been several months since he first got his orbs. Of course, he would learn how to really use them at the academy, but he was learning the ropes with his own practice. He had already found a way to conjure a healing light that could repair minor cuts and scrapes. With a little more practice, he could learn how to fix some wounds. He hoped it would never come to that, but it would be good to know.

Daybreak, Primrose, and Allure were at the general store of the village today. They came for a few things, and were about to leave. Primrose groaned something about “more scrolls” or “super important prophecies” behind them, clinging to Allure’s tail.

“Darling, we don’t have enough chips for that,” Allure said in her most calming voice. “We’ll get more scrolls later, I promise.” She tapped her chip pouch, and the wooden coins inside hardly made a sound.

“Okayyy,” Primrose sighed. It was probably a good thing that Moonlight wasn’t with them today. Primrose definitely knew how to guilt trip her mother into buying things for her, but Allure wouldn’t budge. While it was important for Primrose to write down everything she saw with her gift, they still needed to survive.

“Goodbye, thank you very much!” The cheerful voice of one of the shop’s employees called out from behind them as they left. It was Phenomena, one of Allure’s friends. Daybreak had always appreciated how kind she was to everyone, even the disrespectful customers.

They were headed home when suddenly, Allure stopped in her tracks. A tall, menacing DemiWing stood before them. His fur was a dark green, and strangely, his bone plates were purple. He also noticed purple markings on his horns and snout. He had never heard of DemiWings with purple markings, so he assumed they were painted on him.

“Hello,” Allure said a little nervously. “Can I help you?” The DemiWing stood silently. His eyes glimmered, eerily black. There was a scar over his right eye, a clear slice in the fur of his face. He got closer to Allure, making himself appear larger.

“Um...sir?” Allure’s voice was beginning to become shaky. It was clear that his intimidation tactics were working.

“Hey,” Primrose hissed, her scales turning red, with bits of...black? That was a new one. “Get away from her.” The little dragonet’s voice was more intimidating than Daybreak expected. She stood in front of Allure, flaring her wings.

The strange dragon in front of them finally spoke, his voice deep and intimidating. “And what will you do if I don’t?” He growled menacingly.

“I may be a dragonet, but I’m capable of more than you think,” Primrose threatened. Daybreak was a little shocked. He had no idea this side of Primrose existed, but it made him feel a sense of pride. Even as a dragonet, Primrose would put her life on the line to protect her family.

Daybreak shuffled up next to Primrose. He planted his paws firmly on the ground, assuming a defensive stance. He grabbed two of his obsidian orbs, and the others altered their orbit to accommodate. “You don’t want to pick a fight with us,” he hissed.

“Where is the so-called NightWing?” the dragon grumbled. He stomped his feet, kicking up snow onto Daybreak’s fur.

“She’s right next to me,” Daybreak said proudly. He lifted his head indignantly, trying to seem as intimidating as a one year old ball of fluff like himself could be.

“That is not the one I am looking for,” the dragon growled. “The big one. Why is she not with you?”

“It’s none of your business why my mother is or isn’t here,” Primrose snorted. “What do you want with her, anyways?”
