Primrose 701 CT
Two weeks later...
Primrose yawned and stretched her wings. It had been about a week and a half since they moved into the village with Daybreak and his mother. It was certainly much nicer than living in the wilderness of the Silverveil Grove. She watched the snow fall outside of the window for a moment.
The Grove had always been peaceful to Primrose. It was a place of presumably strange weather phenomenons, which were normal to her since she'd grown up in them. Listening to the rain fall or catching snowflakes on your tongue were ways she could wind down and let the perils of the world melt away, unlike the snow.
It was about time for her to get her day started, but first, she would need to wake up her mother. "Mom," Primrose called, nudging Moonlight with her wing. "It's time to wake up." Moonlight didn't budge, or even stir in her sleep. She must be really exhausted.
Primrose looked at her with a pitiful look on her face. She figured she could let her mother sleep for a little longer. She got off of the bed, being extra careful not to make too much noise. Her talons hit the floor quietly, hardly making a sound. She opened the door, almost letting out a yelp of suprise as she found Daybreak's face right next to hers.
"Good morning," he said happily. "I was gonna wake you up, but it looks like I don't have to!"
Primrose giggled. "Good morning. Mom's still asleep, so let's leave her be." She walked outside of the guest bedroom, playfully nudging Daybreak with her starry wing.
"Morning, Prim!" The voice of Allure, Daybreak's mother, called out.
"Good morning, Allure," Primrose responded.
"Are you kids ready to start at the academy next year?" Allure asked, curious. "I hear they're allowing dragonets from any tribe!"
"But mooom, I don't wanna go to school!" Daybreak fussed, putting on his grumpy face.
"I'm kind of excited," Primrose said.
"Oh, come on, Daybreak, it won't kill you to get out of the house and make new friends," Allure told him. "At least Primrose is looking forward to it."
"Yeah, but she likes reading, and I don't!" Daybreak exclaimed. "And I would rather spend time with you!"
Primrose giggled. She found Daybreak's little temper tantrums quite silly, and even cute. "Daybreak, you'll get to go to school with me, don't you realize that? You'll get to spend the whole day with me." As she said this, Daybreak's eyes lit up.
"Ohhh," he said, a grin spreading across his face. "Okay! In that case, I wanna go to school now!" Daybreak's tail wagged behind him as he purred happily. He was such a silly dragon, and Primrose enjoyed it. Heavy talonsteps behind them signaled that the commotion had woken up Moonlight. She placed a talon on Primrose's head, rubbing it gently.
"Good morning, mom," Primrose said, smiling.
"Morning, everyone," Moonlight mumbled groggily.
Allure handed a cup of some kind of black liquid to Moonlight, and she smiled, thanking her. Despite the fact that Allure and Moonlight didn't know each other very well, they were friendly with each other, and Allure didn't seem to mind letting her and Primrose stay. Both Daybreak and his mother were silly dragons, but their kindness seemed to know no bounds.
Moonlight took a sip of her drink. Primrose wondered what it was. It reminded her of the venom she could shoot from her fangs, which according to her mother, was a trait she inherited from her father, as well as most of her appearance. She also inherited his color-changing scales, and was supposed to know how to camoflauge, but she didn't have anyone from her father's tribe to teach her. Her mother was sure she'd figure it out eventually, though.
Her horns were identical to her mother's, which was one trait she inherited from her mother. She was also apparently larger than RainWing dragonets her age, which made sense, because her mother said she was one of the biggest NightWings in the village. The stars beneath her wings and her ability to breathe fire also came from her mother, as well as her scales' neutral purple color. It was a much lighter purple, but still purple.
The only colors on her body that resembled her father were the orange eyes and the parts of her head which coiled around her eyes and tracked back up her head. The middle of her head was a darker purple than her scales, with an orange horn at the end of it.
I wonder if they'll accept me at the academy. Will they think I'm weird? Will they pick on me? Am I going to ruin Daybreak's image by being around-
"Three moons, Primrose!" Moonlight set her drink aside, throwing her wings around Primrose. She had once again forgotten that her mother read minds. Her scales rippled with dark green and dark blue. She wrapped her small wings around her mother as well, leaning her snout into her chest.
"There, there, little moonbeam, it's alright..." Moonlight gently rubbed Primrose's head with her talon. This was one of the parts of her mother being a mind reader that Primrose liked. She always knew when she was upset and when and how to comfort her. But at the same time, it felt wrong to have her mother always snooping around in her business, whether she wanted to or not.
After she had enough of her mother's babying, Primrose squeezed out of her grasp. She hopped back to her room, going to grab a scroll from the rack. She found one titled "The Ancestry of Solaria" and grabbed it, heading back to the others.
It was time for them all to eat breakfast. Primrose chose the pile of blankets as her spot to sit down while she ate, just as she always did. Her mother was a little concerned that she liked to sit away from the others, but it wasn't like it was that far away from them. She liked having her own little space to herself, and it gave her an opportunity to do the one thing that would always take her worries away: read.
Because of her reading habit, Primrose was typically the last to finish breakfast, or any meal for that matter. She found herself being distracted by the scroll, reading rather than eating. At times, it would take her upwards of an hour to finish eating because of how distracted she'd get. Primrose unrolled the scroll, starting at the beginning.
The scroll in question was about the ancestors of Solarian tribes. She always found learning about the Solarians wonderful, especially since she was merely a dragonet and couldn't travel around the continent yet. She was excited to meet the other three tribes that she knew little about. (Four, if her visions weren't playing tricks with her. She was fairly certain that an entire tribe couldn't possibly remain hidden for so long, but anything was possible.)
She found the depictions of the dragons in these pictures eerily similar to how her mother described the tribes back at her home, Pyrrhia. The pictures were meant to highlight the similarities between the tribes in Solaria and how they thought their ancestors looked. While Primrose had never seen these ancestors or even pictures of them, she was starting to connect the dots with a couple of her visions and these descriptions.
Tribes here descended from dragons from my home...and I'm going to find out who they are, one of these days.
Primrose now had one goal in mind: to discover the not-so-secret secrets of her supposed home, and how they relate to her actual home. Figuring out how, exactly, would have to wait. For now.
