"WARLIC!" Finally! "It worked!!!" I shouted while looking at my friend, a man wearing blue robes similar to some mages from what you will see in Role-playing games. Despite his youthful appearance, this man was old. I mean really old!

"I... Issei... I... we're outside Oaklore?" The blue-robed man asked, his voice filled with weight and tiredness.

"Do you... do you not remember anything?" I asked him, wondering if he knew what he did.

"I... remember... I... remember the light shield. When we were holding back the darkness from Falconreach. Protecting the town from the Super Mega Ultra Darkness Dracolich... I created too much mana. I... I could feel myself... Expanding." Memories of that day appeared in my mind. The darkness that swallowed most of Lore the land I currently live in...

"I was afraid I was going to explode... destroy the world that I had tried so hard to save.... I opened a portal... but as I went through... I felt myself being pulled apart. I felt supreme power on one side. And... and... fragility... feelings... on the other. I thought... I thought it was the end.

"No. No, I won't remember."

'Or you don't want to....' I thought while looking at my friend. To think he could...

"Xan... I... I am so sorry." Warlic told a creature. A skeleton in flames dressed in red robes. "I should have apologized to you a long time ago.... There's so much... so much that I wish I had done differently."

"You set my face on fire. Do you really think I want to hear an apology? Hahahaha!"

"..." The mage turned around to look at a beautiful young woman. Normally, I would have been head over heels for her beauty but my body is just too tired. "Jaania...?"

"You..." The blue mage smiled at the sight of the young woman "Jaania..! H-how...?" The sound of flesh hitting flesh echoed in the overlooking as the Blue mage's head snapped to the side.

"Issei, something's not right," A floating humanoid with no features other than his ice-blue-colored skin whispered to my ear.

"I have spent years, frozen in time. Waiting. Wondering.... wondering if I would ever see you again. Look. Look at what you, what magic has wrought."

True to her words, the smouldering remains of the once-beautiful forest roared in quiet songs of flame, sorrow, and death.

"You destroyed an entire planet and enslaved it's inhabitants! Now, they're stuck in the desert, burnt by the light. You would have destroyed this world. Our world... as well. And you say you wish you had done things differently? Hahaha...

"Jaania... I--"

Magic roared to life and in that moment, I felt it. Ice. The same element the creature, my soul ally, by my side is aligned with... Blades of the same color as my soul ally formed from my gauntlets as I ripped open a portal to the plane of elemental spirits in the blink of an eye to try and get out of the-

"No, Issei!" I heard my soul ally cry out and at that moment... I felt a bond that connected our souls disappear.

-_-_-_-

"where am I?" Issei asked, looking all around him. It was a familiar place he thought he would never see again.

The posters containing illustrations of beautiful women... Shelves filled with Merchandise... This was his room.

"This is... My room... " whispered the pervert as he looked at his reflection in the mirror. He looked like he was back to being 17 years old but he still wore his armor with a pair of modified gauntlets.

He felt empty... "Aegis... where are... " Alone... He was alone again...

"No... I need to calm down... " the brunette told himself as his hands moved... Familiar motions weaved through the air as cyan threads formed from his memory with each motion but in reality, there was nothing that appeared.

Removing each part of his armor, the young man looked at the sweat-covered set of clothes underneath the plates of enchanted steel. The same clothes his friend weaved for him before he became his apprentice...

"Issei!" his mother's voice echoed through the home. "You're going to be late for school!"

School? Oh right, he was a student. A second year student at Kuoh academy. Formerly an all-girls school that recently turned co-ed...

"Coming, Mom!" He shouted before heading to the bathroom. This must be all an illusion, right? "I'll just take a shower!"

Entering the bathroom, Issei faced himself in front of the mirror.  Quickly using a simple ritual he used using his mana to shape light into a symbol taught to him by one of his mentors to dispell illusions, the young man blinked as he felt the serene light cover his form... Nothing.

There was no illusion covering him, meaning he was now back on Earth. But how...

Removing his soul-weaver uniform, the young man blinked as he saw the scars on his body gained from countless battles still carved to his younger body.

'Shit... I'm not too good with magical theories... ' Issei thought to himself before turning the faucet and sighed in relief as the cool flowing water filled his cupped palms.  'There must be something powerful enough that grabbed me from Lore and took me back to Earth at that moment... Or... I did something by accident...'

Taking a quick shower, the young man sighed as he gathered his mana to form a barrier around his body, sealing away his magical presence.

Closing his eyes after putting his uniform on, Issei carefully wrapped some parts of his hair and tied them into a low ponytail of sorts. Looking at a white handkerchief with golden-colored embroideries before tucking it in his pocket. It was one of his most treasured possessions along with the amulet he wore.

'I have no idea what happened but.' He felt it, he felt magic in the air. He knew the dangers of magic, after all, he fought many mages personally or their armies. 'Without Draco or Aegis, I'm all alone but not completely helpless, ' Issei thought as he dug out a book called Makeout Heaven and read the entire thing as he walked to the academy.

As he entered the academy, Issei's eyes widened as he felt the barriers around the academy. Taking several subtle glances out of his book, Issei's eyes widened as he saw the student Council president... She looked human but her soul was far too different from one. Discreetly glancing at the rest of the student Council students as he passed by them, the young pervert quickly walked ahead at a faster pace.

They all looked human but they were different. He saw things in their souls... Chess pieces...
