Tw for very short mentions of alcoholism and abuse

(a/n: the next chapters will be about Seungmin as a teacher)

Seungmin's pov:

I may have not been a teacher for long (I've been a teacher for like two months) but one thing I can tell, is that something is not going well with a student. Some very obvious signs are when a good student hasn't done any homework in a while and hasn't studied well.

And that is exactly what is happening with one of my best students in Year 9. Class 145, I had to talk to him after class.

This thing has been going on for a couple of days, and that's very strange.

So, that's why, while the class was doing a worksheet I went up to her and talked to her. "Seo Dahyun, could I talk to you outside of class for a while?" Dahyun was surprised, at first she looked scared, I think she was expecting me to say something bad, so I reassured her.

"You over there! Make sure everyone stays silent while I step out for a while" I asked one of the students in the front row, obviously, a hard worker, and someone who isn't disruptive.

I closed the door while thinking of what to say first. "Dahyun, I've been noticing that recently, you haven't been yourself" The girl looked at me like she was about to cry.

Something was definitely wrong. Holy shit, and what am I supposed to do? I'm just taught for education.

At least I'm not Hyeongjun, he wouldn't have even noticed Dahyun.

"Uh well-" She bit her lip, trying hard not to cry. "My parents got divorced when I was young, and I lived with my father, I wasn't allowed to see my mother cause she was slightly abusive and an alcoholic" Dahyun's voice started to break. I am fucked. How am I supposed to deal with family problems.

"But over the summer, my father died, and well, I lived in a shelter for a while, but I've moved to my-" She stopped herself as tears started running down her face. I didn't know what to do, but I started patting her back. "To my aunt, and I just can't get adjusted to my new life" She let out through sobs.

I took out a new piece of tissue, and gave it to her. "Dahyun, could I meet your aunt?" The girl nodded, she still couldn't reply with her voice. "Uh, well, how is tomorrow for her?" She nodded again, so I set up a time to meet her aunt after school.

"I'll just have to tell H- my lover that I'll be home later" Seungmin quickly took out his phone. "I didn't know you had a lover" Ryujin muttered through sobs. "If it'll make you feel better, right after class, since it's break, I can tell you about them, it'll maybe help a bit" Dahyun nodded, it would give her something else to think about.

Right before I realised I was fucked.

Hyeongjun is a guy.

I am a guy.

If you think about what most (conservative) people would say.

That's not normal. Like, at all.

Holy shit, what have you done Oh Seungmin.

I'm fucked.

There goes my reputation as a teacher.

Really using your brain here. Fuck my life.

"So, my lover, you know I they're wonderful, th-" Ryujin interrupted. "Is it the guy you were with at the theatre, Leeseo was there" My mouth was left opened.

What do I say...

"Are you friends with Leeseo?" I tried to change the subject, she answered with a yes but did not forget about what she had said.

"I won't be answering that" I decided to say, if that worked, then it would be fine, I could continue talking about how wonderful Hyeongjun is, without talking about Hyeongjun directly.

"Sir, respectfully, there's no shame in you dating a man, well... Look at you! I wouldn't be surprised you could pull someone as wonderful as your boyfriend!" I laughed a bit, I really liked her energy. It was hilarious.

"What do you mean?" I asked confused, this was probably one of the first- if not the first time- that my gayness has been fully accepted, and like, that's a wonderful feeling.

I guess that's how being straight is.

"Well sir, again, respectfully, all the girls, except me! Think your hot" I'm not surprised she said that, I guess a young, muscular male teacher could definitely get compliments from students.

"So, if girls, except me, find you cute, why not a guy!" She sat on the table, her legs started swinging up and down. "This stays between us, right?" She quickly nodded, she was very excited to learn about stuff like that.

"This. is. Han Hyeongjun" I showed her a picture of him, he looked really handsome in that picture, I paused between each word to add emphasis. "Oh! He is cute!" I could tell that she didn't have any mean undertones to what she was saying.

"He gave me this" I showed her my ring, because yes, on the inside, I'm still a child and have to show people every near and dear to me.

Even students.

"What is it?" She looked at it in great detail. "A promise ring, he made it for me, we've been together since high school!" Dahyun covered her mouth, she clearly liked it.

At least I hope.

"I hope someone will make something for me like that one day!" She continued looking at the ring.

"You're still young kiddo! Now you should be going back to class!"

--

Ok, so, this is my first time meeting a students legal guardian.

Dahyun sat on one of the two chair I put across my desk. The girl accompanying her looked very familiar.

Extremely familiar. And she looked to be around my age.

"Hi! I'm Shin Yuna! I'm taking care of Dahyun"

That's why.

"Yuna? Wow, you haven't changed one bit! Oh Seungmin! Pleased to meet you again!" I couldn't believe it, I should've known it though, Dahyun really looks like her.

"Seungmin! Oh wow! You're really handsome now! Even more! I'm sorry for what I said, I miss you" She tucked her hair behind her ear and blinked seductively.

"You're trying to seduce me Yuna, two things, I'm not single, secondly, we're here to talk about Dahyun"
