Natasha watched as the redheaded girl ran out of Fury's office and her heart clenched. But there was something in her eyes, it wasn't anger or hate. No, it was something else. Something that shouldn't be there and she had only recognised that look in one other place.
The red room.
When she finally came to her senses, Natasha rushed after her and was barely able to see her running in to the living quarters. The woman sprinted as fast as she could toward the door Alia had just shut behind her. Before she could swing it open she could hear someone gasp and fall to the ground.
"Use your powers." Someone gasped, and it was Alia. "Sedate me, because I don't know what I'll do."
"But Alia I-" Natasha heard Wanda stutter, but Alia didn't let her finish.
"Tell him I have something in my brain and they need to get it out" Natasha heard Alia gasping for air.
"Sedate me Wanda!" Alia screamed, her voice cracking."I don't want to hurt anybody, I don't want to hurt her."
Nat pushed open the door just as she went limp on the floor. Vision sprung in to action, flying through the wall towards Fury's office. Without a second thought, Natasha rushed forward to the girl. Her eyes darted between her and Wanda. Wanda looked like she was about to faint, pale and shaky.
"You need to give her a sedative or something because I can't keep her asleep much longer." She whimpered.
Vision came back through the wall and Fury came running. Behind him Nat could see Steve, who looked just as shocked as she felt.
"It's something in her head" Wanda exclaimed, not taking her eyes off Alia.
"It might just be a flashback" Steve tried but Wanda shook her head.
"It's something else, she said it was in her brain."
Wandas words echoed through Natasha's head.
It was in her brain.
"Get her to a cell" Nat spoke up.
"What, are you crazy?" Steve asked her, anger lingering in his words.
"I think it's a message." The redhead tried to explain. "If I'm wrong, you can take her into surgery." Nat looked between the two men.
"Fine" Fury agreed. "Wanda can you take her there?"
Wanda nodded and lifted her with her power. They all ran downstairs to that empty room that they first had kept her in. The one with the mirrored glass. When they had shut the door, Wanda released herself and sunk to the floor in exhaustion. They all watched as Alia sat up and looked around.
"Can you make the window see through?" Nat found herself asking Fury, knowing what was about to happen.
He clicked a button and the glass seemed to become clearer. Alias eyes snapped to them, but landed on Natasha. She stood up and walked towards the glass.
"Natasha Romanoff" the girl said in a voice that wasn't her own.
Nat knew that voice, not sure she would ever forget it.
"Dreykov" she hissed.
Alia laughed, her smile not reaching up to her eyes.
"You like my little lab rat?" Alia asked her mother who flinched at her words.
"She's just a kid" Natasha growled. "It's me you want, not her."
