"If you feel something is wrong, that's because it usually is"

Something Is Definitely Wrong.

I knew it immediately when an announcement rang out on a Friday morning. A Friday. Principal Stevens doesn't usually do announcements today, since he's out with his girlfriend (a.k.a. my homeroom teacher, also my AP Physics teacher, Miss Vanessa)

But she's here teaching Mechanics in a double AP Physics. And she looks more bougie than normal. And she isn't fancy. Another thing is the school (the school and its students) are put together more meticulously than normal. I also have a weird cold that suddenly appeared this morning. Been sneezing all day.

Crystal Royale High isn't a fancy school, but it isn't a dump either. Its also not your average high school. Other schools in Pineridge have football, basketball and soccer teams. Some elite ones have volleyball and tennis teams. Mine has a mix: Tennis and Basketball.

They also have -thankfully- a Robotics Team of which i'm a part of. And with the news going round and my tremendous resilience, i'm the only junior in the city's and school's Tennis Team, the Valkyries.

But enough about me, back to the weird occurrences of this warm April Friday. Principal Stevens started the special announcement. I needed to hear this. And i wasn't the only one.

Good morning, Valkyries. This announcement might be seen as unusual and uncalled for by some of you, and some of you already know the details of this message. Well, i am pleased to announce that we have accepted a prestigious student into our school. Valkyries, give a shout for Jake Lockwood!

I just looked blasély at the speaker. All this about another rich guy who doesn't value his life or his brains. I hope he isn't smart enough to be in any of my AP classes. Meanwhile, the rest of the supposed intelligent bunch of students are reacting differently but similar to each other.

The girls are squealing in delight, fantasising about how he looks, and I quote, "hawt". The guys are possibly coming up with ways to convince him to join their groups.

I might need to save him. And I hope I don't have to, cos he is definitely NOT going to be in my classes. The speaker turns back on; Principal Stevens continues:

I know this is good news to everyone here at Crystal Royale, and i hope this happiness can extend to a warm welcome for our new student. Well, this is all for today. Have a nice day! Go, Valkyries!

Can someone tell him that I do not care! Ugh! But, i'm not gonna be petty. My IQ is way higher than that. Whoever his student buddy is, is gonna have great popularity and power.....and with it comes great responsibility.

Miss Vanessa nodded after the message ended. Maybe she knew something about this. Course she knew, but who am I to argue with the reasoning of old love?

The lesson went on for about 30 more minutes. Then during passing period, of which AP Physics students walk around our 20ft by 25ft Physics lab cos we have double physics for 3rd and 4th period.

I sit silently and get my novel out of my backpack and start reading, only to get disrupted by a commotion in the entryway. Just why?!

I don't even care anymore, i put in my earbuds and listen to music. I don't know what song it was, but it was loud and kinda just felt right at the time.

Anyways, after whatever it was died down and passing period was over, we resumed classes again. Then halfway through, with Miss Vanessa speaking about Newton's 2nd Law of Motion, a freshman comes into the class asking for her attention.
