"In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity"

*Hi, hi. So....first chapter in Jake's POV. Its quite long. I just hope you enjoy the chapter*

Problem Day

I've heard of Crystal Royale High School, the fancy yet normal home of the Valkyries. I don't know why they use Valkyries though, its for female warriors. What are the guys called?
Or are they just forgotten and neglected?

"Stop overthinking. You'll have creases in your forehead"

That's my mum, overprotective and mostly cares about appearance. I've learned to not question it, unless absolutely necessary.

"Just leave him. He needs to think once in a while. It won't affect his face, just his brain. In a good way. The question i'm concerned with is what he's thinking about. What are you thinking about anyways?"

That's......Daniel. He's more about building character and brains than muscles. Probably why he's so lanky and lean, not in a good way.

I had just moved to Pineridge from Oakwood. A totally wealth-filled area brimming with socialites, celebrities and successful businessmen and their families.

This is where I fall into, minus the snooty attitude. My family is more...calm and peaceful. Down-to-earth actually.

"I'm just questioning the name given to CRHS' students. Valkyries? Isn't that feminine? Are the male population of the school just forgotten? How do they feel answering to a feminine name? Wh-"

Daniel interrupted me. "Ok i'll stop you right there. Can you calm down?! Stop questioning the school before you actually get there. Yes, Valkyries are female warriors. If you didn't know, which it seems like you don't, Valkyries also means to fight and be victorious"

"Still makes no sense though. Why the f*ck did they not pick something li-"

Now mum interrupted me. "Language, Jake. I'm still telling you to stop. And look outside. instead of questioning a school's team name choice, appreciate this city's ambience"

As she pointed it out, our car had entered Pineridge, i immediately felt the peace. It wasn't completely quiet, but the noise level wasn't deafening, it was just the right amount. My mum had gotten a penthouse for us on the top floor of an apartment block. And we had just driven up to it.

The building was 9 storeys tall, our house walls and windows glinting black, taking the two top floors contrasted with the white walls of the rest of the normal apartment. We came here to live normally, yes still with the money, just don't make it so f*cking obvious, mom.

I said exactly that, turning to mum. "Deal with it. I'm not living like a peasant and do not make me tell you about language again, young man"

Oh, right. My mother's temperament is like that of mercury, cool and calm one minute, then boiling hot the next.

"You do know you're not the queen nor are you a princess? Or even a duchess, a marchioness or even a lady of noble standing, right?". I said stating everything she was not.

"She's my queen. Anyone who doesn't think so should drift aimlessly through space and be spaghettified three times through a black hole" Daniel said, hugging her from behind and kissing her forehead. She giggled.

He didn't know how to trash talk and she didn't know that but thought thus was 'cute'. I made a loud gagging noise. My mother never giggled.

"Can i please go in? I think i'm gonna puke" She waved me away and I rolled my eyes.
