Ignorance of the past

On a rainy night on September 19, 2017, that day I last saw Anna alive while bleeding and dying, while I hugged her in the middle of the road, and her blood flowed in my hands together with the rain full of grief and remorse. All of that is because of me and my ignorance. 

Even five years ago, there wasn't a day or night that I didn't blame myself for why Anna died. If I hadn't done, believed, and said all that, I hope Anna would still be smiling and happy in her life, but I've never seen those ever again.

Even my dear parents died in a car accident. after they went to Anna's funeral to apologize for my actions. It's like I'm in a nightmare that can't get out in the darkness of the past.

It's been five years since all that happened. I tried to live a normal life, and I continued to study once again, but even though I knew within myself that it would be impossible for me to ever pay for my sins and heal the scar of my past, I feel conscience and guilty.

Prologue

The young man came out of the house he lived in and slowly walked down the stairs, going out the gate of the boarding house while carrying his school bag. While he was walking, someone called his name from an old vegetable shop. an elderly woman named Isabela.

"James! Come here!"

The old woman called James, and the boy slowly went to the old lady and respected her, asking what she needed from him. The old woman pointed to the box full of vegetables, and she asked the young man nicely.

"James, can you carry these boxes into the store?"

"Sure, Grandma Isabela! There is no problem for me!"

James answered. The young man carried the boxes into the store very carefully and dropped them on the floor next to the other boxes.

It's done, grandma; I put everything in the other vegetable boxes.

Thanks, James, for your help. happily answered while holding a plastic container with fresh and cooked food. The old woman handed it to the young man, and James was very surprised when the elder reached for a plastic container full of food.

Grandma, no, it's alright; I'm good; it's so embarrassing. the young man's only answer to the old woman, while the old woman insisted that James take the food.

"Please take this young man. I'm ashamed that you always help me when you see me struggling to carry the boxes, and you never reject my request."

James gave up, and he slowly took the plastic container with food inside. He thanked her full of respect.

"Thank you very much, Grandma, for the food you gave me."

He said it happily as his lips smiled. The old woman smiled while looking at the young man, who was very happy. 

"Oh, ok, hahaha, thanks a lot too!"

James left the store, waving happily away with his face and heart. While the he was walking on a street near the vacant lot, he saw a stray cat in front of him, wanting to ask him for food. He immediately took out the food he had there and gave the food he had for dinner to the school. 

Here, kitty kitty, I have food. Come here. while bringing food to the cat. The cat approached James with complete trust, and the cat immediately ate and then slowly left.

While he was walking along the road, he saw a group of people all looking up at the top of a building. while James wondered, What are they looking at?

He asked himself in surprise. The young man immediately approached the confusion among the people because of his curiosity. He looked at the top of the building, wondering what he would see, and he was shocked to see a woman at the top of the building standing at the edge of it, and it looked like she was going to jump.

The young man did not hesitate to go to the top of the building to save the woman from the foolishness she was about to do. When he reached the top of the building, he saw the woman, who was very scared, and her eyes were tinged with sadness and sorrow.

"Miss!! Don't do that!! "James shouted, and he was pleased with her.

Go away, mind your own business!!! 

The woman shouted to him, and she threatened him that she was going to jump if James came closer to her. and the boy stops moving, shaking his hands to signal that he will never come any closer to her.

"No wait, please hold on, miss. Reclaiming life was not a solution to escape life's problems."

While the young man slowly approached the lady, the woman noticed his action immediately. The young man tried to approach her.

"Stop!! I said. Don't come near me; you don't know what I'm going through right now."

The woman did not immediately notice his slight movement and panic; that would be the cause of his accidental fall from the building.

"Miss no!!!"

The man does not hesitate to save the woman. He ran very fast, and trying to save the woman from falling from the building, he immediately reached and grabbed the young lady's arm.

"Don't die. Please, I don't want to experience the past. I don't want you to die, just like my loved one, whom I didn't save. Please hold my hands. I'm begging you, please!!"

the young man to cry and plead while holding the young lady's hand. Because of what James said, the young lady's eyes seemed to wake up to the truth. Tears fell, and she cried.

"Save me, sir. The girl was crying and talking to the man. The young lady held on to James's arms very tightly.

Little by little, the young man lifted the lady to the top of the building. After James last pulled on the woman, his body slowly slipped, and he fell from the building. The young lady tried to catch his arm when he fell, but it was too late.

"As the young man fell, he talked to himself. Maybe this is the end of my life, but for the last time, I wish I could see her smile again, Anna."
tearfully asking for a last request as his tears fell together with his own, and he immediately died, and the noise of the crowd faded.
