Following Randy, Dewey, and eventually Gale proved surprisingly effortless, especially given their supposed paranoia about a potential killer on their tail.

Despite occasionally glancing over their shoulders, they seemed more fixated on anticipating an attack rather than devising a solid plan. It didn't strike Billy as a particularly sound strategy. How they survived their killing spree is really just a testament to how down hill Billy's plan went.

It almost made him embarrassed, if not wildly irritated.

Finding themselves loitering by a tree, they pretended to be ordinary teenagers enjoying their break, oblivious to whether Ghost-face would show up in broad daylight. It was a risky move, considering it was the main courtyard. Part of Billy doubted they would be dumb or maybe ballsy enough to try, and Stu even more so. Not even him would risk such an attack, but adhering to the 'rules' of sequels, this would make for a major kill.

Regardless, Billy had no intention of leaving until it happened. They knew their luck too well--the moment they let their guard down, the killer would strike, and everything would be damned if they failed.

Randy, Gale, and Dewey sat in the field, engrossed in conversation. Billy didn't bother eavesdropping; their small talk held no interest.

Out of nowhere, Randy suddenly picked up a phone, suddenly standing up and looking all ridged. Billy hit Stu, who had lost focus and was messing with the grass on the floor. They both locked on, watching as Randy got progressively more uncomfortable. Billy took a second to marvel at the progression of technology. Mobiles seem to be everywhere now.

It didn't take long for Gale and Dewey to separate from Randy, which made Randy look so vulnerable; it was like watching a baby deer being hunted by a panther. "Have these guys learned nothing?" Billy watched them run off, bewildered. It's like they have never watched a scary movie. You don't leave the person being hunted unless you want to find their mutilated corpse!

While reluctant to potentially save Randy, they didn't particularly care whether he lived or died--he was their bait. He attracted the killer's attention, so Randy was irrelevant; that didn't mean he was jumping to save him.

They witnessed Randy approaching people on the phone, people who were unaware and innocent. He seemed cocky--far too cocky for a guy who got shot and only survived because Sid was able to overpower him and Stu. Though it was obvious that the cockiness was his attempt to hide how shit-scared he was, Billy could almost breathe the desperation in the air.

Finally, Randy stopped by a van, his voice raised, seemingly yelling something down the phone, unheard by Billy and Stu, until Randy was yanked into a van aggressively.

So that's where you're hiding.

Billy hesitated, not because he was scared, but because he was still wondering if he really wanted to get in the way of this perfect kill setup. Even he had to admire the way it was set up.

Hiding in the van, nobody would check because why would they hide in the reporters van? He didn't admire the impulsiveness, though. Sure, he could pretend that they somehow planned to get Randy walking within grabbing distance of the van, but there just isn't any way that's possible. They saw their chance and took it; now it's going to cost them.

Stu bolted, obviously not fighting the same questions as he was, his sunglasses falling off his face, pocketing them into his jacket pocket, startling backwards when Randy crashed against the van's windows. Stu quickly recovered, prying the door open just as Ghost-face was about to strike.

Stu jumped head first into the ghost face, disregarding Randy immediately, who crawled out the way to the corner of the van, his expression blown out, most probably having his life flash before his eyes.
