Monday 9:00am - August

Sydney's pov:

It was the first day of my junior year at UConn. Go huskies!
After I woke up, I got ready for the only class I had today, psychology. Unfortunately the class was at 9:00 am so I didn't have time to do anything besides get up and go.

I wore jean shorts and a tank top as it was still hot outside. It's late August, so I guess its technically still summer. My roommate Hadley was still asleep. I didn't want to bother her so I head out without saying goodbye.

I took my car to the lot outside of the sociology building and parked in the front row. I made my way to class and sat in one of the middle rows. I put my headphones in until I heard Mrs. Rossi start speaking.

"Hello class, welcome to Psychology! I love teaching this class because it really allows me to get to know you guys, but it also gives you insight to your peers inner thoughts and feelings. I will assign you a partner and you will work with them for the whole year. After you spent the whole year getting to know them, you will deliver a final project about them, we will talk about that later. And before you ask I will not switch your partner or put you with a friend, I want you all to meet new people, explore new horizons. I will now display the partnership's on the screen."

As she was typing something in on her computer in efforts to pull up the partnerships she noted:

"All I want you to do today is meet up with your partner, and get to know them. Then
submit a video describing your partner!"

'Describe your partner', That would be easy enough. Then she finally got the partnerships to project onto the screen. I scanned the 20 something groups for my name.
And that's when I saw it:

Sydney Green & Paige Bueckers

I wasn't going to pretend like I didn't know her, everyone at UConn knew who Paige was. She was our star woman's basketball player. I was a little nervous because she was a tad big intimidating, but I tried not to dwell on it as I stood up and looked around the room for her. It wasn't hard to spot her 6'0 frame doing the same in the back row. Welp, she definitely didn't know who I was so I had to go up to her.

After I walked up the isle to her seat I tapped her on the shoulder, having to reach my arm up pretty high. She was really tall. She turned around and gazed down at me.

"Are you Sydney?" She asked.

"Yeah" I said, she looked nice enough.

"Paige" she nodded to me. I gave her a small laugh, she acted like she wasn't a campus celebrity.

"Ok where should we do this project? We can go to the library or my dorm" She asked.

"Hmm, wanna sit out on the quad? it's so nice out today" I smiled. I loved being outside.

"Only if we can stop at Starbucks" Paige replied. Shooting be a big smile.

"We're gonna get along so well" I said, heading out of the building with Paige following me.

As we walked to Starbucks I said hi to a few friends I passed along the way and enjoyed the hot sun. When we got there after the short 2 minute walk, Paige held the door open for me. She was so kind. When we got up to the counter Paige ordered first.

"Can I have a venti matcha with a grilled cheese sandwich?" She asked. Then she looked at me.

"What do you want?"

"Oh don't worry I can pay for my own" I laughed, reaching for my wallet.

"I got you" she said in a soothing yet confident way. "Plus I get a discount anyway". I gave her an 'are you sure?' look and she just nodded.

I stepped in front of the counter and asked for
"A Venti mango dragon fruit refresher lemonade with peach juice".

"Wow that was a mouth full" she laughed.

"It's the best tasting thing ever. I actually think it is my favorite thing" I say smiling just thinking about the drink.

When the barista handed us our order Paige gave me a crooked smirk. "That thing looks like it's for a 4 year old, it's purple!" She laughed.

"Don't knock it til you try it" I replied, holding the drink up to her lips. She bent down to take a sip and her face lit up.

"Ohh, that's good" she said in a low voice, smiling once more at me.

"I expect a written apology" I said as I headed towards the exit. Even when I got to the door first Paige reached her arm above my head and pushed the door open for me.

I lead her to an empty spot on the grass. She just followed me and sat beside me with no objections. Paige sprawled out, stretching her long legs, while I rested on my stomach. The sun was shining, people were throwing a frisbee a few feet away, and Paper Planes by M.I.A started blasting out of someone's speaker. To say life was good was an understatement.

"Ok let's get started" Paige said, clapping her hands.
