Sunday 10:30 am- September

I parked outside of Paige's apartment and texted her that I was there. I didn't even change from my pajamas this morning, but I brought a change of clothes for when I get there.

Paige jogged out to my car and got in the passengers seat. She also looked like she was still in her pajamas with green flannel pants and a UConn zip up.

"Good morning" I laughed. She was rubbing her eyes in that sleepy way baby's do. A very cute 6ft tall baby.

"It's so early" she groaned. I guess she's not a morning person.

"Paige it's 10:30. Don't athletes have to get up like super early all the time?"

"Have to and want to are different things" she responds as she adjusts her chair all the way back and stretches her legs out all the way.

"You can go to sleep if you want" I say, wanting her to feel comfortable.

"Nah I wouldn't do that to you, I just need something to wake me up. Can we stop to get snacks please" she responds quickly.

"Yea I'll go to target it's on the way there, it's about thirty minutes away. Do you think you can hold out til then?" I say sarcastically.

"I think I'll manage" she plays into the joke.

"Also... what do you mean 'wouldn't do that to you' ?" I ask. My curiosity always gets the best of me with these sorts of things.

"You know it's just not the move to not entertain the driver" she answers.

"Pay I honestly don't care, if I was in you position I might sleep right now too" I say honestly. It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if she slept, I know she works hard. Plus I have hours worth of true crime podcast lined up for this kind of occasion.

"I enjoy talking with you anyway Syd, I wouldn't miss out on a minute of that" she says casually. It was one of those things that wasn't overtly romantic but seemed like a love confession. I try to match her energy and play it cool.

"Whatever you say" is the best I could manage.

She stays true to her statement by asking me personal questions all the way to target. At some point my love for true crime podcast gets brought up and she asks me to play her one.

I start a new episode about JonBenet Ramsey. Paige sits in complete silence for the next 20 minutes, listening intently to every word the podcast said. As we pulled into the target parking lot we paused at the part where John Karr confesses to killing JonBenet. Because this is one of my favorite true crime cases I know it was a false confession but Paige doesn't.

"Bro how is there another 45 minutes of this podcast when the guy just admitted to killing her already" Paige says as she shuts the passenger side door and stretches her legs.
