Brighter than the sun
The girls past had been overdone
Life was pressing in
She had nowhere to run
Her family saw her as normal
Her friends saw her as confiding
But the deepest darkest secrets
Are always in the hiding
The girl tried playing happy
Her mouth curved a smile
She joked with her friends
But it only lasted a while
She waited for the moment
Silence as her witness
Where she could rid of all her food
Lying was her fitness
She was empty as a case
A skeleton took her place
The sinewy, frail being
Knew nothing of what she was seeing
She sat at the dinner table
Quick to read a label
The liveliness she once had
Was gone
And they were glad
Echos in her head
Marveling that she was bone
Appraising her appearance
Her mind was no longer home
Sitting in class
Blankly staring at the air
Her thoughts were preoccupied
Why did she even care
The abyss she called a heart
Put everybody down
She attacked her friends
Her world was drowned
Eyes glazed over
Her hair hung in her face
She did crunches in her room
Being thin was a race
Her friends drew back
She was a monster they didn't know
Her parents were terrified
It was an all time low
Clawing at her cheeks
Marring her skin
Impairing her temple
A body full of sin
Cuts on her arms
Deep gouges of red
The color of the devil
He was inside her head
Sleeping at night
Waking at dawn
Looking in the mirror
Seething at herself, the pawn
She ripped out her own heart
Ravaged as a beast
Her friends and family screamed
But she couldn't care the least
She welcomed the echoes of desire
A skeleton she wanted to be
Now that her company was gone
She was finally free
Free to give in
A devil she became
Bones jutted from her hips
She would never be the same
Her body was wasted
Scrawny as a willow
Limp and lifeless
Death was her pillow
Her family was banished
Her friends had vanished
So she became one with the devil she had managed
