Oliver had met the absolute perfect woman. She was stunning, kind, understanding, smart, but there was one issue. She was immortal. He, however, was mortal.

This woman's name was Alice. She did not tell Oliver this, instead she used a fake name for herself, Kali, after the goddess of death. She admired Kali, and wished to be her.

Alice and Oliver could never be together, for they were forever separated both physically, and mentally.

They were polar opposites, standing with their backs to eachother metaphorically, unable to see eye-to-eye with their differing knowledge and standpoints.

Oliver wasn't going to give up this easily, though. He would never let go of this woman, he knew that one day she would come around.. surely....

Right..?

He spent every waking moment thinking of this woman. Her deep red eyes, her long wavy black dress, her melting halo, her ripped up and torn apart wings, and her sympathetic, sad face. She was beautiful to him, the most precious thing he could every think of.

And he knew that today, he would convince her to rethink her choice beforehand to push him away.

Alice knew he was coming back, she saw it. A little while later, she felt a tug on her foot. From where the tug was, she knew it was Oliver. She looked down, her red eyes burrowing into him, and she knelt down on one knee and put her hand out, waiting for Oliver to climb up on her hand.

Oliver climbed onto her hand and waited to be lifted up.

He was soon lifted up, hundreds of feet in the air, on Alice's hand, staring Alice in the eyes.

Alice: "Mortal. I have told you once before that you shall not interact with me again. However you have returned upon your own accord despite my threats, please provide me with your reasoning for such.. reckless behavior."

Oliver: " I- please, i know that you think this cant happen, but, Kali, if you just give me a chance, i can prove to you that im worthy!"

Alice stared down at him in dissapointment and sadness. She knew where these desperate acts were coming from, plenty of mortals reacted to herself this way. But he.. he was different. Typically, if a mortal returned a second day to herself, she would crush them into a fine powder without hesitation. But something about this one was odd.. he was unordinary.

Alice: "little mortal, I am not entirely sure in which that you may know, that you entirely comprehend my previous exclamation.  It is not merely because i do not like you that i stated this cannot happen. It is because it is impossible. This sort of bond between a goddess and a mortal cannot form without many things preventing any kind of relation or happiness from developing."

Oliver: "I understand.. but i cannot just leave this be. I need to prove myself, right?"

Alice: "And what do you suppose you could do to.. prove oneself?"

Oliver seemed stumped, he didnt think he would get this far.

Oliver: "Kali.. your Devine majesty.. would a sacrifice of some degree work?"

Alice stared for a second, considering it.

Alice: "A sacrifice.."

She said faintly. If this mortal was willing to go as far as a sacrifice to prove his love and worthiness to her, she may accept him as her own.

Alice: "i suppose that shall suffice for me.
However, the sacrifice must be human."

Oliver: "yes, your majesty.. i will come back to you in two weeks."

Alice knelt back down and placed the mortal on the ground again, returning him to his people.

Oliver ran around, frantically making his way back to his home, as if he were running from something. When he returned to his home, he pinned his door shut with his entire body weight and breathed heavily. He fell down and sat against the door while something pounded aggressively at the door, terrified for his life, knowing he needed to be as quiet as he could.

The next day, he awoke and walked into his kitchen, walking past the stove and past the sink over to a drawer in the corner. He opened the drawer hesitantly and grabbed a large kitchen knife from it. He stared down at it in his hand before gripping it tightly and walking out of his home, eventually finding an old home which two young girls, Sarah and Elaina inhabited, without their parents home, he walked in through the unlocked door and stared down at the two girls, holding their dolls and playing family with them. It was as if he was invisible to them. They had not acknowledged his presence, he was simply invisible. He stared down at the two, his kitchen knife in hand, as he gripped harder on the handle, tears slowly formed in his eyes, and he ran out, only to be greeted by the sight of one half of the world falling off, and a creature as tall as Kali standing there, holding the world up with her own arm. He stared up at the creature infront if himself, it was large, has eyes all over its body, a melting white halo, spots covering its shoulders, and tentacles floating around itself. Its eyes glared through Oliver as he stared up with his knife in hand. Was this.. Kali..?

Oliver: "K-Kali..?"

The creature spoke in a soft, kind voice. This voice shook oliver to his core as he heard the words falling out of this creature's mouth.

???: "oh my sweet, i am so sorry to have to do this to you.. but.. i must protect myself and my people at all costs. Even if it costs you your own consciousness."

It reached down and grabbed Oliver with it's claw.

???: "The name's Alice." It said as it crushed Oliver's body with its fist.
