♡Am I okay..?♡ (APOCALYPSE AU)

TW: slight mentions of; blood, familial verbal abuse, alcohol abuse, and self harm.

Engel, Oliver, Zip , and Edward managed to survive a nuclear explosion which wiped out all human life on earth. They were walking around, searching for food and weapons to help protect themselves from the now nuclear infected animals and fish whose only goal is to kill them. Whilst walking they found Abbie on the ground, bleeding and crying.

Engel quickly ran over, dropped his quiver and bow on the ground, and started bandaging Abbie.

Engel: "Oh my god, im so sorry we didnt find you sooner! I-"

Abbie quickly pushed Engel off of him.

Engel: "Let me help you.."

Abbie: "why would you want to help me?"

Zip, Oliver, and Edward simply watched this. Sort of giggling at Engel.

Engel: "Well, I mean... I help everyone.. it's only fair, everyone deserves a chance.."

Abbie: "Well i dont need your help. Im perfectly fine on my own."

Abbie began to stand up, but immediately fell to the ground.

Oliver laughed, walked over, and picked up abbie, holding him on his shoulders.

Oliver: "My god, he is hopeless. Lets go back to base so we can get this nerd some help."

Everyone quickly followed suit, and were soon all back at their base. Engel took the task of helping Abbie, bandaging up his knees, ankles, and neck.

Abbie was reluctant, and seemed very annoyed the entire time.

Zip and Edward were making some soup for dinner, and oliver was out hunting.

Zip and Edward were laughing together while they cooked, and Abbie looked over at them and stared for a second. His eyes softened and he seemed a bit sad. Zip turned around and saw Abbie staring, but Abbie quickly looked away and started acting annoyed again while Engel was finishing up the bandaging of his ankle.

Abbie flinched as Engel pressed down to seal the final bandage.

Engel: "All done!"

Abbie grumbled: "finally."

Abbie messed with his hair and got some dirt and leaves out of it, still grumbling in annoyance.

A few hours pass, and Soon dinner is finished and Oliver arrives back with freshly hunted meat, and places it on the counter.

Everyone sits down at the table and eats the soup together, happily conversing and talking about their hunts and their day.

Abbie, however, stays silent. He watches them talk happily together and thinks about how his family was never like that. His family never talked, and if they did it was always yelling about finances or drinking issues. This new situation he was in scared him, he wasnt used to... Being cared for? He felt odd.

Zip: "Abbie, are you okay?"

Abbie snapped out of his little trance and nodded his head with a faked smile.

Abbie: "mhm!" He said, unsure of what exactly "okay" meant. He had never felt truly.. 'okay'.

Zip moved on and went back to speaking with Oliver and edward.

But Engel didnt move on. Engel knew Abbie's situation too well. He had been there once too. But he knew that if he said anything to Abbie, it would only make his state worse... So he had to sit and watch as Abbie suffered in silence. No one helping him, even though he desperately needed it, he wouldnt take it.. even if offered.

Everyone finished up dinner and zip, oliver, and Edward went to sleep. Abbie stayed up a bit longer, sitting in the dining room.

Engel had gone to his room, but he came out a bit later to see Abbie still at the dining table. He stood in the hall for a second, simply staring at Abbie in a state of commiseration towards him. He had been through what Abbie is before, and had to heal all on his own. After a few minutes of staring at Abbie, he walked up and sat in a chair beside Abbie.

Engel: "I know you may not care, but I do. And if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here. I'll always be here."

Abbie stayed silent, not even bothering to look at Engel.

Engel sighed and walked away, going back to his room to sleep.

Abbie stayed awake a few more hours, it being 5pm by the time he crawls into bed and tries to fall asleep. After a few minutes, he decides to go talk to Engel.

He got up and walked to Engel's room, slowly opening the door.

Abbie: "Engel-"

He then remembered how his brother would react anytime he tried to talk to him about something, and fearing Engel would be the same, he walked out and closed the door.

Engel heard his door and slowly got up.

Engel: "hmm?"

But Abbie was long gone.

He got out of bed, and looked in Abbie's room. He wasnt there. He searched the entire home, and didn't find him. But he eventually ran outside, and after running for about 15 minutes, he found Abbie sat behind a tree, crying.

Engel: "hey hey hey! No need to cry, are you okay?"

Abbie thought to himself; "am i.. okay?"

Abbie didnt know how to answer, so he stayed silent, and Engel understood, and simply sat beside Abbie, knowing how Abbie's family was likley very similar to his own, and sat, trying to comfort as well as he could.

Abbie, for the first time in his life, felt at home.
