After walking for about 2 minutes, they finally reached the director's office. Cassidy stopped at the door, and looked at Bethany.
"I'll have to wait for you here, the director hates my guts. Good luck !" She smiled while announcing that to Bethany, but her smile looked like a nervous smile. This kinda worried Bethany. A lot. She smiled back, unsure of what was bothering her sister so much.
She stepped in, feeling stressed as ever. She would've felt more comfortable if Cassidy's smile was a little bit more convincing, but her smile really frustrated her. As the door closed, she snapped back to reality and started looking around her.
Her father was behind her, looking at her with an encouraging look. She finally saw the director, who, if she had to be honest, looked like a dragon. She had sea green eyes and was as big as a building. Okay, maybe the director wasn't actually the size of a building, but in Beth's mind, the exaggeration was entirely justified. She cringed inwardly, preparing for the worst.
The dragon—oops, sorry, the director— glared at her as if she had committed the most heinous crime imaginable."Looks like she hates my guts too.. Great." She thought to herself, grimacing a little.
The director's gaze remained icy as she inspected the paper in her hand.
"So you're Bethany Cadence hm ?" the director rumbled, her voice as intimidating as her towering presence. Bethany nodded weakly, wondering if she could discretely borrow some breath mints from her dad on the way out."Yes ma'am, that's me," Bethany nodded, trying to ignore the distinct aroma of fish that wafted from the dragon-director's general vicinity. She took a cautious step backward, hoping to put some distance between herself and the olfactory assault.
"Great," said the director with her voice dripping sarcasm, "Do you happen to know what species you belong to?" she added.
Bethany looked at her as if she were insane.
"Erm..Human ?"
"I see your sister didn't tell you the real purpose of this school." Sighed the director annoyed.
"Okay, so long story short, You're not human." She announced, her hands joined together as if she was explaining it to an idiot.
"I am." Answered Bethany looking at her with firm eyes.
"No you're not."
"Ma'am, I can assure you that I'm a human, just like everyone else in this school," Bethany asserted, her patience wearing thin. Seriously, what was with this woman?
"There's no human in that school. Except your maybe father, but I think even he is something else." claimed the director.
"Like I'll believe you." sassed Bethany with a scoff.
The director sighs. She stood up, and looked even bigger. Suddenly, she started growing. And growing. And growing. Wings unfurled from her back, and horns grew on her head. her eyes, who used the be normal, now had a black background, with the same sea green eyes, but now, they looked evil. Bethany stepped back, terrified. She looked at th director, who was now a REAL dragon. She looked around, to check if everyone just saw what just happened. But they were only her father in the room, and even he looked unfazed. He looks at her and sighs.
"Could you maybe ease up on the traumatizing the students, please?" he requested, addressing the now very real dragon in the room. Then, turning to Bethany, he sighed, looking a shade paler than usual..
"D-dad..? What is happening..?" Bethany stammered, panic setting in.
Was this some kind of twisted prank? No, it looks far too real. If it's not, why wasn't he freaking out like a normal person? Do Cassidy knows about this ? Maybe, and maybe that's why she was so worried. Thousand of questions swirled in Bethany's mind like a tornado, each one more bewildering than the last. Was she dreaming? Was this some elaborate prank? Or had she stumbled into a parallel universe where dragons were school administrators? Either way, one thing was for sure: her first day at this school was shaping up to be anything but ordinary.
Her father looked at her and sighs.
"Look, the director is saying the truth. Nobody here is a human. Even you." He said while kneeling down to her level.
"But..that's impossible !!" She said, perplexed. "You are a human!!!"
"No, I'm not. I'm a vampyr." He said akwardly.
"A vampire ?? You sucks people's blood?" Asked Bethany.
"No, that's a vampire . I'm a vampyr. V-A-M-P-Y-R," her father clarified awkwardly. "I feed on people's energy. It's different.""It's basically the same thing," Bethany insisted, her mind struggling to process the revelation. If her father was going along with it, then it must not be a joke.
Her father shook his head. "Trust me, there's a big difference, but right now, what's important is that you stay calm and try to understand. This is a lot to take in, I know."
She nodded quietly. So her whole life was a lie ? Wait, so Cassidy's a vampyr ?? What about her mother ? Is she also a monster ?
"Monster is kinda rough. We prefer calling ourselves supernaturals. And no, you're sister isn't a vampyr, and your mother is not one of us." Explained her father, he looked like he could read her mind, 'cause she definetly didn't say that out loud. Wait..so all the time her father could read her thought..? She quickly dispel that thought from her mind."So..Am I a vampyr too ?" inquired Bethany while scratching her head.
"Yes.Maybe. We don't know yet." Answered her father.
"You don't look like one. Who knows ? Maybe you're a werewolf. Or a witch." Continued her father as he examined her.
"Wait, isn't it genetic or something ?" Questionned Bethany, confused.
"Not really. It's rare." Said her father. "Sometime they are."
"How do we know which.."species" we are ?"Asked Bethany.
"You sure are asking a lot of questions,"Joked her father. "Well, there's that thing you'll have to drink.." He looked around for a bit and started walking to the dragon-director.
"Please Jessica, may I have the potion ?" He asked her while smilling at her.
She looked at him and rolls her eyes. He grumbles something and pulls out something from her..mouth ?? Ew, thought Bethany as she looked at what was happening with a disgusted look.
Her father carefully took it, as if it was a bomb, and walked to her. As her father approached, she carefully took a step back. When he reached her level, her father looked at her with a smile.
"Here drink it," As her father said that, Bethany considered saying no, and just going back home. But eventhough he was smilling, his cold gaze told her that she didn't have a choice.
She sighs and takes the potion from his hands and analyzes it. It was a shade of purple, and had something floating in it. She gulped and opened it, it smelled like lavender, so that was kinda comforting. She took a deep breath and starts drinking.
As soon as she finished, she started getting dizzy. Her vision became blurry, then suddenly, nothing.
When she woke up later on, she tried to remember what happened, but everything was..fuzzy. She tried to stand up, but she fell like her body was feeling heavier. She looked around, and saw Cassidy smiling at her.".
