While his lover was fighting for his life in ICU a still enraged Lane Davis was driving to a place he never ever in his life figured he would be. Unless he was serving drinks.

The elaborate colonial style house of Senator Callista Hamilton in the wealthy African American DC neighborhood known as the Gold Coast.
He parked his car in front of the estate on the too quiet street and ran through the open gate all the way up the front steps and into the front door which his mind didn't comprehend was open wide.

He was angry. He wanted revenge. He knew she was responsible. And that bitch was going to pay.

" Where are you, you bitch! "

Stepping into the foyer he called out her name. " Callista Hamilton! Where are you! I'm not scared of you! "

He ran and searched through each room. Each lonely empty room. Then he got to the elegant dining room with it's polished enormous oak wood table and numerous chairs and antique East Asian rug.

And the dead body of the woman in question laying still on the rug. There was a single bullet hole in her head. Blood was spilling beneath her onto the floor.

Callista Hamilton was dead.

That knowledge was enough to calm him down. And scare him.

As Lane turned to leave and get help a masked person slammed him in the head with a gun.

It was lights out for the teacher.
