Lane was taken to Georgetown University Hospital Center by Lee Chung and Miss Jane Doe. Theo and Matt were driving back to Chestnut Street and their respective homes because they were tired. Matt wanted to drive the Corvette so Theo took the opportunity to check texts on his phone. There was several from Reed. Charles was still in a deep coma but his condition was upgraded from critical to stabilized or something to that effect. Reed had left their contact information with the hospital and was heading home. He also said Saint had arranged for Lane to have 24-7 access to Charles who was now in a private room instead of ICU and to tell Matt Saint was going home himself. Oh and Reed was picking up Thai on the way home.
Reed : Your favorite wine too. Winnie said they feed the kids already and they're all watching a movie.
Theo smiled. He loved that man. The memory of Jacob's lilting voice and intelligent brown eyes faded back to the past where they belonged.
He told Matt about the texts. He also wondered what the next move should be. " If ," Theo said," The Raven is involved our next move has to be a careful one. But I'm not completely confident that Rhodes will listen to us and point the investigation towards anyone but Lane. Remember. No mention of Raven or Jacob to Saint. Or Reed. " He tapped at his phone. " Wow. That's fast. There's a public memorial service for the senator planned for a couple days. Thank you, Google. Whatever did we do without you. There should be all types of important people there. Maybe even a few of the enemies Wheels mentioned. Hopefully the enemies will be there. "
Matt smiled and nodded. " I'm pretty sure Saint will be there. He didn't like her but the mayor can't ignore a senator's death. Think of his approval rating. And if Saint is there I have to be too. I'll tell him to bring the gun. "
Theo looked at him. " Please do. In fact maybe I should get a gun myself. "
Matt laughed. " That'd be funny. At least when I shot myself in the foot it was an accident. "
