chapter two; my name is
━━━━
YOU SIGHED AS YOU ENTERED YOUR apartment, dropping your book bag by the door and kicking your shoes off. it was another long day, even though your classes haven't started yet, but you had to prepare for them, like buying your textbooks and buying extra stationary and shit. and obviously, your money wouldn't last long with everything like your rent and food and a million other things you couldn't list right now, so the only reasonable thing to do was to look for a job. which you have been doing, but to no luck everyone was already looking through applications that came in or not hiring at all.
you made your way to the kitchen, looking to drown your sorrows in comfort food and brooklyn nine-nine, as you stood in front of your microwave, waiting for your food to heat up your mind drifted, it drifted to your class that would start soon, to your mother and what she would say about you eating leftover take out, and it drifted to the blonde from a few days ago.
where was he anyway? did he live nearby? did he maybe go to the same university you were attending, what if you guys had the same classes? that'd be cool, maybe, depending on your social battery and who you'd want to interact with on the day. what if it was him who lived in the apartment next to yours and not that couple who looked like they were straight out of a fashion magazine, now that'd be something
soon enough, you were knocked out of your endless train of thoughts by the sound of your microwave dinging and rock muffled by your apartment walls, the rock sounded like creed. though it was irritating, you would applaud your neighbour for having good taste.
you made your way over to your couch, holding a dish cloth under your plate so you wouldn't burn your hands, once you were comfortable enough, you picked up your remote and put brooklyn nine-nine on, and immediately you found comfort in the voices of jake peralta and charles boyle talking about something stupid.

you lay in bed, kept awake by your thoughts of home and your mother and your friends back home, your missed your town, granted there was never much going on there, but you've never really been away for as long as you would be, maybe you've been gone for like two to three days tops, but that's it.
you contemplated getting up and taking a train home, though getting tickets at this time of night would be a pain, and the train rides itself would be a pain as well, considering your hometown and where you were right now, maybe you could leave tomorrow and come back when classes started, though that would be unreasonable seeing as in two days time you had orientation.
you sighed as you got out of bed, putting on your night slippers as you grabbed your robe and made your way to the kitchen, flipping the light switch you squinted as the lights went on, your eyes taking a moment to adjust to the brightness. you turned on your kettle as you grabbed a mug and began making yourself a cup of coffee (or tea or hot chocolate if you don't drink coffee, but personally, i love coffee).
after you poured the hot water into your cup and added milk, you took a sip, humming at the taste as you made your way to the balcony, opening the door so you could walk out, immediately you were surrounded by the coldness of the outside world, you sighed as you wrapped your nightgown tighter around you, attempting to surround yourself with warmth as you sat on the seat that stood on your balcony.
"hey sweetheart" a very familiar voice called out to you, making you look up from your cup.
well you assumed it was for you, considering it was the dead of night and considering that any sane person wouldn't be up at this time. what was the time anyway?
"uh hey" you replied back, unsure. of what though? you weren't sure of that either.
you squinted, trying to see who you were speaking to under the dimmed lights on yours and the mystery person's balcony, when the person stepped closer to the edge of their balcony, you could confirm that it was in fact the pretty blonde from the other day, you smiled softly, happy for some familiarity, even though you didn't know this man from a strand of hair.
"why d'you sound like that?" he asked, leaning against his balcony and looking right at you.
"like what?" you asked, laughing slightly as you sipped your now cold coffee.
"so... nervous" he said, making a 'so-so' gesture with his one hand
you hummed and shrugged your shoulders; "i wasn't sure if it was you" you simply said, making the blonde hum
after that the two of you fell into an awkward silence, not quite knowing how to revive your conversation from where it died, that is, until you remembered you didn't know his name and he didn't know yours.
"hey i didn't catch your name the other day" you suddenly said, making the blonde look back up at you.
he smirked at you, and you noticed that it was a very attractive smirk; "well i didn't throw it now did i?" he asked, his smirk widening
you laughed slightly and shook your head; "no you didn't, do you mind throwing it?" you asked, and he hummed.
"not at all," he said, winking at you; "my names katsuki bakugou"
