The long-awaited Royal Ball for the Festival Day had finally arrived. The upper-class individuals of the Rennell Empire, regardless of gender, were bustling to dress up splendidly for the occasion.
Among them, the one who invested the most money and effort to look beautiful was undoubtedly Rose.
Despite their relationship not being as good as it once was, Kasalyn, as a maid, went to fulfill her duties to Rose.
"Good morning, Your Highness."
Kasalyn greeted her naturally as if nothing had happened and was about to pick up a brush when Rose raised her hand while focusing on her reflection in the mirror.
"No need to help. Just wait over there."
It seemed the humiliation Rose suffered in public at the recital had greatly affected her. For days, she had been childishly taking out her frustration on Kasalyn.
Kasalyn nonchalantly nodded and set the brush down.
"Call me if you need anything."
She then moved aside and stood there.
For the two hours Rose was being dressed, she neither called Kasalyn nor dismissed her, keeping her standing like a decoration.
Finally, Rose began to speak to Kasalyn, as if just remembering something.
"I've taken in a new maid."
She said this abruptly and then discreetly glanced at Kasalyn to gauge her reaction.
Kasalyn simply nodded, apparently not the response Rose had expected. Rose then composed herself and continued.
"Ah, she's coming now."
Kasalyn turned her head in the direction Rose was pointing.
A woman with deep copper-colored hair braided in a slightly outdated fashion and a somewhat cautious look with freckles lightly spread across her face entered. She appeared only a year or two younger than Kasalyn, with a gentle appearance that seemed out of place in the stern royal court.
"Hello, I'm Loren Logia from the Logia Viscounty."
The Logia family, as Kasalyn recalled, were originally dairy farmers in the countryside who, after unexpected success in the milk business, bought their titles.
Unlike the Rennell Empire's strict and traditional class system, in the Khan Kingdom, one could become a lower noble if they had enough money.
Of course, those who entered the aristocracy in such a manner were openly shunned in social circles.
Kasalyn wondered why, of all the noble ladies, Rose chose the daughter of Viscount Logia as her maid.
"It's nice to meet you. I'm Kasalyn Loberphon. Let's work well together."
Kasalyn greeted her cheerfully.
Loren seemed genuinely fascinated and glanced back at Kasalyn with curiosity.
"Do you have something to say to me?"
"If you were offended, I'm sorry. I always wanted to meet you."
"Me?"
"Yes, I never had the chance to enter high society. I heard you were a lady of considerable dignity. I think it's an honor to meet you like this..."
As Loren rambled on, Rose's sharp, irritated voice filled the room.
"Loren! Come here!"
"Yes!"
