Kasalyn felt utterly speechless, experiencing firsthand what it meant to be so flabbergasted that words failed her.

She was infuriated by Chalen's pathological victim mentality and his irrational behavior of always trying to find fault with her, regardless of the situation.

"I seduced His Majesty the Emperor? I didn't realize I was such an influential person."

"Don't be sarcastic. Just answer my question."

"Sorry, but you're completely mistaken. I haven't encountered His Majesty the Emperor recently."

"That's not what you should be saying. Say it again."

Chalen, visibly enraged yet trying to maintain a facade of composure, aimlessly circled the room.

Kasalyn quietly followed his shadow with her eyes.

"Why don't you question Her Majesty the Queen, who tasked me with ghostwriting?"

"The Queen has already sincerely apologized to me. Unlike you, she has a different level of character and doesn't make petty excuses like you do. She's just a bit slow in learning but has a kind heart."

Blindly mumbling to himself, Chalen picked up the coffee cup Kasalyn had been drinking from. He scrutinized the rim with a keen gaze and deliberately placed his lips on the part marked with her lipstick.

Kasalyn's face twisted in disgust.

"I'll say it again, I had no involvement in the reading session. The only mistake I might have made was doing the work that the Queen was supposed to do."

"You're wrong again. Say it again."

"What kind of answer do you want to hear?"

"If you really don't know, I'm sorry to hear that. Isn't the only appropriate response in this situation 'I'm sorry, please forgive me'?"

"Chalen, you'll regret this."

"Regret? Me?"

Chalen let out a disbelieving, deflated chuckle.

"I'll regret... Sure. That would make for an interesting novel scenario."

The coffee cup slipped weakly from his hand and shattered on the floor. The remaining black liquid splashed, leaving a messy stain on his shoe.

He extended his dirtied foot with a slight nod.

"Wipe it."

"What did you say?"

"Wipe my foot clean with your skirt, and I'll consider it all water under the bridge."

A mixture of humiliation and outrage filled the air.

Kasalyn felt hot tears welling up behind her trembling eyelashes, but fortunately, they didn't spill over.

"If you're looking for someone to vent on, you should have chosen your target better."

Parnes suddenly intervened, pressing down firmly on Chalen's shoulder. He must have been passing by with his attendants, as many were lined up outside the door.

His voice was so low and lethal, it seemed to scrape the very depths of the underworld.

Chalen, startled, looked towards the doorknob.

The solidly locked door had been crumpled like thin paper. The guards outside must have suspected something amiss due to the unusual disturbance.

"This late hour... How?"

Chalen desperately tried to salvage his dignity, acting as if nothing had happened.

His expression betrayed a minimum awareness of the disgrace and pettiness of his actions.
