Joong's POV
We just finished eating and are now on our way back to our place to take a nap. We decide it's best to sleep outside, in the hammock, but we only have one, which means one of us has to nap inside. "You can nap here and I'll go inside," I say and turn to leave, but he stops me. "No way," he pushes me towards the hammock and I fall in it, surprised. "But now you can't stay in the fresh salty air," I protest. "Sure I can," he smirks and jumps onto me, hitting me with his elbow, claiming it was by accident, but I'm 100% sure, he did it on purpose.
We struggle for a while, but eventually I end up on my back, moved to the side just enough so he can lay on his side next to me, with my arm around him and his resting on my chest. I observe his face when he closes his eyes and realise he's even cuter up close. I notice he fell asleep and that I had been absentmindedly caressing his upper arm. Oops, happens. I smile to myself, move slightly to get into a comfortable position and fall asleep myself.
I wake up when I feel him moving around, and first thing he says is an apology: "Sorry. I didn't want to wake you up, but I really need to pee." I just laugh at him and help him get up. I follow into the house and wait for him on the couch. I check time and realise it's almost dinner time already (it's 5.50), which means, there should be a picnic basket arriving to our door anytime now. And we just spend the entire afternoon doing nothing. Great.
"So, what now?" "I have something planned, but you need to put on some walking shoes and find your hat." He's confused but he does as instructed, and so do I. When we're ready and he starts interrogating me, we hear a knock on the door and I go to pick up our food. I thank the worker who brought it and tell Dunk we're going on a picnic. He looks at me suspiciously but follows me towards the only hill nearby.
He complains a lot while we're walking, which is quite funny and when we finally get to the top, he just collapses next to the first tree he sees. I get to him and basically drag him from there to another tree, which has a bench in front of it and is facing west. He drinks some water and gets back to his normal excited self when he sees me putting out food from the basket. We start to eat and he guesses we're here to watch the sunset. Since it took us quite a while to get here, it's getting dark already and we start speculating how long until the sun sets and how many (and which) colors we'll see. In the meantime we finish eating and put leftovers and trash back into the basket to take it back down.
We're now leaning on the tree, while also sitting super close. I don't think he noticed our legs and shoulders touching and I don't think he knows I'm leaning my elbow on him on purpose. I wish I could hug him like I did when we were napping, but it's obviously not needed in given situation, so I don't. I don't think I'm ready for him to know that I like him, but I do. And I really really really want for him to like me too.
"Joong!" He's shaking my arm with one hand and my leg with the other while staring straight at me. "Hello? Earth to Joong!" "What? Sorry, I zoned out. What's wrong?" "It's starting!" He points excitedly to the sun, touching the horizon, painting the sky a warm orange. His hand is resting on my thigh, since he's so occupied with the view, he probably forgot to move it. I don't want to get hopeful when I probably shouldn't be, so I gently move my leg, to signal him, his hand is still there. "Oh, sorry," he removes his hand smiling softly and I murmur a guiet "it's okay" before we both look back at the colors in front of us.
When it gets dark it's time to head back and Dunk offers to carry the basket, but I carry it anyways. Instead I give him a flashlight so we can see where we're going. "Are you tired? Do you want me to carry the basket?" he asks when we get off the hill and only have about 300 metres to our house left. "No need. I'm super strong. I could carry an elephant right now if I had one," I joke. He smiles and stops. To my surprise he gets behind me and jumps on my back while saying: "Great! I'm no elephant, but I assume I'm not as heavy either, so this shouldn't be a problem." He smiles happily, wraps his arms and legs around me and points the flashlight on the path in front of me. "Well, you are no elephant, but the weight part's debatable," I comment jokingly which earns me a slap on the arm and a fake offended look.
I hold his legs so he won't fall off and start walking. After a few steps he rests his chin on my shoulder, humming some (to me) unknown melody right next to my ear and I can feel my heart skip a beat. I try to pull myself together and ignore it until we're back at our mini house. He jumps down when we're at the door. "You can take a shower and go to bed if you're tired. I'll be right back, I just have to return the basket." I smile, he nods, I leave.
I'm back in 20 minutes or so, cause I really took my time, so he has enough time to shower and get dressed. But apparently he is either ultra slow or I miscalculated, how long it takes for a person to shower. I stepped inside, locked the door and headed upstairs and when I walked to his room, he was standing there, finding his clothes in only a towel. He must have heard me, cause he turns around to greet me: "Oh, you're back. I just showered, so the bathroom's empty. And maybe after you shower we could play some board games with our brothers?" He notices my confused look and adds: "Tay just texted if we want to come over," he shrugs, just as confused as I am. "Sure," I nod, really struggling not to pay attention to his abs right now. "When do we have to get there?" "He said asap, but apparently we have all the time in the world, since New doesn't have to work tomorrow so they can sleep in."
