CHAPTER NINE.

Chloe decided not to go to work that day. She had hoped that after a good night sleep, she would forget about her encounter with Aiden... But then again, she should have known that the only reason he could have appeared in her life again was to torture her.

Chloe sighed as she got up from her bed. "I need to punch someone." Chloe muttered before she got an idea.

She picked up her phone and dialed a number. She tapped her feet impatiently, waiting for the person to answer. The moment the person answered, Chloe smirked. "Yo Ace, what you doin'? Sorry, that made it sound like I cared. Ditch whatever you are doing and come over ASAP." Chloe said. She hung up before the person on the other side could even say a word.

Chloe grinned before walking to the bathroom humming. Yesterday had been a bad day so she was going to use today venting and letting out of all her anger.

Ace rang the doorbell nervously. He just got a call from his boss, asking him to come over. His boss never asked him to come over unless she was upset. That only meant one thing... She was going to spar with him.

Ace closed his eyes and prayed Chloe would not answer but it was too late because at that moment, Chloe dragged open the door.

"You are late. Why?" Chloe asked tilting her head. Ace gulped. "I... You didn't give me a time and I..." Ace said and Chloe scoffed. "I called you exactly twenty five minutes ago. It only takes twenty minutes to get here. So... What did you use the remaining five minutes to do?" Chloe asked and Ace shuddered.

"No.. Boss, I.." Ace mumbled and Chloe sighed. "Forget it. Come in." Chloe said stepping aside for Ace.

FORTY MINUTES LATER.

"Time out.. Time out please." Ace spat out as he staggered. Chloe sighed as she watched Ace try to maintain his balance. "I don't think there is supposed to be time outs." Chloe said tilting her head.

Ace groaned and ran his hand through his hair. "I am sorry... But boss, why can't you talk about your problems rather than fighting it out?" Ace asked taking a huge leap of faith.

Chloe raised her eyebrow. "I don't get. When did I ask for your opinion? Time out is over... Let's continue." Chloe said and Ace gupled. He knew Chloe would never take his advice but it could not hurt to try right?

Oh but Ace was wrong. It hurt so much to try... So so much.

After Chloe's little session with Ace about 30 minutes later, Ace left Chloe's apartment limping.

As Chloe slammed her door shut, she recalled what Ace had said and she shook her head as tears welled up in her eyes. "But who do I talk to? I am all alone in this world. My mom won't ever look me in the eye. Bree probably thinks I am boring.. My only family members hate me. And he betrayed me. So who exactly do I talk to?" Chloe said to herself before shaking her head and using her hand to clean her tears.

"Nope.. I called Ace over because I was going to vent out and let go of all my emotions. I must not let emotions get to me. I must harden my heart... I must not let my emotions fool me and lead me astray again." Chloe said before she went to her room to get ready for work even though she already said she wasn't going to go to work.

Bree was pleasantly surprised when Chloe told her that she (Chloe) was not coming to work. In the past, Chloe used to pile a lot of work on all her workers including Bree but now that she wasn't around, at least they could finally relax a little.

However, Bree's happiness was short-lived. Because three hours after work began, Chloe walked into her company. The rest of the workers looked at Bree with a betrayed look in their eyes.

She had promised them that Chloe would not come to work and it was like a day off for them even though they were at work.

Bree was just as surprised as they were. She walked into Chloe's office with a forced smile. "Hey Chlo.. I thought you were not coming to work today.." Bree said carefully. Chloe tilted her head.

"Is there anything wrong with me coming to work, Brittany?" Chloe asked and Bree gulped. "Nope.. Nothing is wrong with you coming to work Chlo... Absolutely nothing." Bree said with a forced smile.

Chloe nodded and waved her away. Just as Bree was about to walk away, Chloe looked up and cleared her throat. "And it is Miss Anderson and not Chloe.. Or Chlo. I thought I told you... Quite explicitly." Chloe said tilting her hand.

Bree gulped when she saw Chloe smirk. "I forgot... I am sorry." Bree said and Chloe shook her head.

"Sorry won't cut out for it. Get ready for your punishment."
