"Hey, is it only me or does Sylvie look a little sick today?"Severide whispered to Matt , turning to look at his girlfriend on the bunk, he agreed"Yea, she is quite pale , maybe I should ask her if she wants to go home and rest." As Matt stood up and walked towards Sylvie who was curled up on the bed."Hey Babe, you feeling alright?"Matt asked , sitting on her bunk."Nooo, I don't feel the best , everywhere hurts..." After hearing her words Matt immediately asked Chief Boden for a few days off work for the both of them.
At home...
"Hey, Baby you feeling better?"Matt asked although it was obvious that she was running a fever from her flushed checks.Placing a thermometer into her ear , it beeped after a while the thermometer showed that she had a fever of 103.6*F / 39.7*C."Hey babe , wake up take some medication it will make you feel a bit better.Taking an ibuprofen,she went back to sleep.
1h later..
Matt walked into the room upon hear Sylvie groan . "Hey , feeling better?" Matt asked. Sylvie muttered out softly "Nooo,I feel 100 times worse."She shivered and ducked under the mountain of blankets.Her face is really pale and her checks are flushed. Taking her temperature , Matt got the shock of his life, by then her fever had rose to 107.9*F /42.1*C. "Babe, we have to get to med A.S.A.P , your fever is really high ."Feeling extremely bad, she weakly nodded.
At med...
Getting an IV and blood taken was torture, Sylvie was in so much pain during the process. "Sylvie, stay awake for me for a little while okay?"Natalie asked. Finally after the tests which took quite a while, Sylvie and Matt where finally left alone . Sylvie signaled for Matt to go on her bed and within minutes she was asleep.Matt could still feel the heat radiating off her .After a while Natalie came in and announced that Sylvie will be hospitalized for a while . Just 30 minutes later, Natalie came into her room with the results of her blood test. "Hey, just telling you , you had an infection which caused the fever."Natalie said , Matt instantly sensed something wasn't right and felt that Natalie was keeping something from them. "What is it that you are not telling us?" Matt asked."Sylvie , I am so sorry... but the blood tests shows that you might have...Leukemia...."Natalie said ,her eyes filled with sorrow. Sylvie's eye's instantly filled with tears."No,no,no,no..."She muttered crying into Matt..."Matt himself is also in shock,how,HOW could have his healthy , funny Sylvie Brett have a terminal disease...HOW? Why is life so unfair,WHY?He tightly hugged Sylvie to console her. "Our life will change now , Matt..What if I ....."Sylvie mumbled."Babe, don't you dare think such negative thoughts , you are strong ! " Matt replied. "Im very sorry but to confirm the diagnosis and identify the specific type of leukemia, a needle biopsy and aspiration of bone marrow from a pelvic bone will need to be done to test for leukemic cells, DNA markers, and chromosome changes in the bone marrow.When will u want to schedule it?"Natalie asked"Tomorrow."Sylvie whispered softly. Natalie nodded and walked out...
