Chapter 1

The year before everything.

Yoko's POV

I open my eyes, I saw that the ceiling is very white and the atmosphere is very cold and nostalgic. This feeling, it's always been the same. I knew I am in the hospital again, laying like I was dying.

I never remember what happened, so I started to gather my strength but I couldn't, it's like I am paralyzed that I couldn't even move.

Then I had a blurry vision, I saw my father, he was talking to someone out of the room, the door was half open, so I can see him.

He seems happy, am I not sick? Is he talking to the doctor?

And then, I saw he suddenly bow to someone, it was my cousin, Marissa. What is she doing here? She supposed to be in the palace.

She enter the room, and she seems shocked. "P'Yoko?" She said my name as she approach me with a panic look, "uncle, P'Yoko is awake! Please call the doctor!" I hear her, she ordered my father. And now my eyes is all on her.

"P'Yoko, just hang in there for a minute, your father is calling the doctor, no need to worry." She said, as I can see her eyes filled with tears of joy and care for me.

"What happened?" I asked, and I know, I felt it myself that my voice was hoarse and weak. "Someone shot you while riding your horse on the day of my father's celebration, and it's been three weeks since you fell in a coma." She said, and I can clearly see that she's worried about me.

Now I remember, it happened. And I suddenly remember who saved me, "wait! How's P'Faye?!! She saved me right?" I asked in a panic.

"Khun Faye is fine, she never had any injuries, she just pull you down on the horse, but never expected that the bullet would hit your head, but you're still lucky that it's just a near-missed shot." Marissa said, and I smiled knowing P'Faye saved me.

"Wait, aren't you worried for your life? You just woke up!" She said, I clearly see that she's totally freaking out, "you shouldn't be worried, P'Faye just turned as my knight and shining armor, I never knew she know how to use a gun. What a manly thing..." I said, I can feel a hot face while smiling widely.

Then I saw Marissa, she show me a serious face and tug my ear, "Ow, ow!! Ow!" I scream a bit.

"You listen to me, daughter of Prince Chao Lertprasert, who is also the duke and my uncle, you should be worried more about yourself, because I am sending more high-ranking guards in the army to guard you and the royal family!" She said, and I was surprised, "what? No, I don't want to, Marissa!" I pouted and acted like a child.

"Look, my father, the king of this nation agreed about it. He is also worried about my safety." Marissa.

"So he granted the young general? General Ice?" I teased her, and she shook her head, "The young general, which is the third daughter of the young prime minister, does not go and out of the palace to love me, but to guard me." She clarified, but I won't believe it.

"Why do you have to be serious all the time? Marissa, you're not in the palace to talk like a book." I said, and she scoffed, and fix the blanket in my feet. "I know, but that's what I'm used to. Father is also worried."

"He is always worried, when did the time he never get worried?" I said, and she shook her head and sighed, "this time, is about me. He is worried that I might not marry someone I love, or the person I love won't marry me." She stated, and I was confused.

"Why not? You're literally one of the most powerful woman in this country, why wouldn't anyone wants to marry you?" I stated,

"I wanted a pure love. Not just because they like me for being the crown princess. Father is afraid others would take advantage of me."

I think about it, and I totally understands her. "Look, stop worrying about it. You're young and I know you have so many things to do, and besides, you're entering the royal academy, stop worrying about some things." She smiled after hearing me said that.

"P'Yoko, can you totally visit the palace after you recover? I want you to teach me some histories."

"What?! You're smart already!"

"But I want your company!" She said, and pouted her lips at me, "you're lucky that you're my favorite cousin and the crown princess." I said, and a little bit annoyed, but I also loved when she cling onto me like this.

"Look, father was clearly excited to see you!"

"Can I see P'Faye?" I asked her, and she think about it. "Well... Well, the thing is. P'Faye is totally busy right now, father just hired her as the royal architect to renovate the Red Roses Garden." She said, and I felt a little bit sad.

"But, we can call her!" Marissa said, smiling and I immediately agree to it. "In one condition!" Marissa said, showing a serious look,

"What?" I asked, "you will rest for more than an hour, and I will try to call Khun Faye." She said, and I have no choice but to agree, "you promise you're going to contact her?" I said, and she nodded at me.

"I promise, now sleep."

"But—"

"You know me, once I promise, I'll do it." She cut me before I could even finished, and the ending, I agreed to her.

I lay down, she assist me, and fix my blanket for me. As I slowly closing my eyes, I hear a fading footsteps. Marissa might have go out of the room.

"Khun" is a term to say "Miss/Mister" in thai, so example of that is Khun Faye, which translated as Miss Faye.

"N" or "Nong" is a term used to address the younger ones.
