Alaïa's POV:

As his eyes reached mine, they glowed in amusement. He stepped forward moving towards me, putting his hand on my lower back and leading me to the car without uttering a word.

As we sat in the car, no one dared to break the heavy tension, until Christian was the first one to speak.

"Journalists are going to be surrounding us, so we have to tell them about our engagement. We have to be convincing," he stated.

"And what are we supposed to say then?" I inquired.

"We'll tell them we've been meeting secretly for the past nine months and got engaged a few weeks ago, simply," he added.

I turned my head towards him, eyeing him judgementaly. "And do you really think this is convincing? We despise each other, so we need something more," I explained.

"Something more like what?" Christian hissed.

"You really are dumb, aren't you? We need to act like a couple, in love, unfortunately. Otherwise no one will believe us."

His jaw tightened after hearing me call him dumb, so he continued saying, "Never disrespect me do you understand? and me, loving you, this is never happening."

"I didn't tell you to fall in love with me, all I said is to act like it. If you want your plan to work out then that's your only choice."

He frowned thinking deeply about what I had said. Few minutes later, he broke the silence saying, "Fine. Just in front of the public."

It seemed like the wat to the place we're having dinner at is long. The night is clear, you can see the stars, I looked out of the window watching an elderly couple walking together hand in hand smiling slightly, then suddenly the thought of my small little dream came up in my mind.

The idea of opening a bakery came from my childhood, when we used to visit my grandparents, my grandpa used to take me to an old bakery, buy some chocolate muffins and milk, chat and eat them together. I wanted to open this small bakery to revive my childhood memories, but the boutique was always my number one priority.

Suddenly the car stopped half way through the road, Christian turned to me and pulled a box from his blazer. He brought my right hand in front to his and opened the box revealing the most beautiful ring I've ever seen. The ring had huge princess cut diamond in the middle along with a gold band having more diamonds.

I looked at him, my eyes sparkling, and whispered, "Christian what's this?"

He looked at me, memorizing the details of my face and replied, "You wanted our act to be convincing and that's the only way."

He pulled his hand away from mine, missing the warmth he provided me with, slid a silver ring on his finger, cleared his throat, and continued driving.
