Elizabeth was married to Alexander, they had a fairly happy marriage and had just been accepted to adopt a little boy in a few weeks. It was Elizabeth's dream to have a family but she couldn't get with a child. She was watching the dishes with her husband sitting in the living room, writing a report for his job. The night was peaceful until a knock at the door was heard. Eliza dried her hands on a towel and went over to the door, "Hello?"

A tall man with chocolate skin, curly hair, and mischievous eyes stood there. He was wearing a magenta suit that really made him stand out against the dull walls. "Hello my dear lady. I'm Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson. Pleasure to meet you." He said with a very faint southern accent. Eliza gave a slight nod to greet him then said, "Hello sir, may I ask why you're here?"

She heard Alexander get up and start to walk over when Jefferson started talking, "I come with an opportunity to get some easy money." He gave Eliza the box he was holding and when she looked at him confused, he continued, "In this box, there's a button that if you pressed it you would get $100,000 but someone you don't know would die."

Alexander looks rather excited but Eliza looks scared or horrified. "Someone would die?!" Jefferson nodded, she shoved the box back into Jefferson's hands. "That's inhuman, no!!" Alexander grabbed her waist and gently moved out of the way then grabs Jefferson's card before he walked away.

Eliza shut the door and jumped onto her husband's back, taking the card away from her beloved. "Lexi we won't do it! To kill someone for money?! NO!!" Alexander takes her other hand and spins her into a dip then takes the card back, "I love you but we need the money." Eliza shook her head, "We are perfectly fine please! Just don't.." He put her on the ground and walked to his office.

Next morning Alexander had off and Eliza was in town doing tasks she's been putting off. Alexander, unable to fight temptation called Mr Jefferson and told him to have the box here within an hour. The second he put the phone on the receiver, a small knock came from the door. He rushed to open it and there was the box and pale blue paper with a label on it:

"To Mr Hamilton as soon to be wealthy man!"

He grabs the box and walks to his office, closing the door after him. The box was gently placed on his desk and then admired. 'The money would surely help..' he thought to himself."Darling I'm home!" Eliza said which sounded faint to Alexander. He got up and put the button on the very top of his shelf so that his short wife couldn't see it, the rushes to sit back down and almost fell over in his chair.

The doorknob turns.

Alexander straightens himself out then pretends that he was working. "Dear I told you to stop working on days that you have off!" Eliza said, catching sight of her husband. Alex let out a nervous chuckle, "Sorry Liza" She walks over and kisses him gently.

Once again Eliza was out and Alexander was alone yet again with the button. He got it and gently set it down on his desk once again. He was nervous that it would explode or something, 'Alexander, you are being foolish. Just press the button, you need the money and it would make Liza happy if the new baby had a beautiful nursery.'

And with telling himself that he pressed the button and waited. 'Is it a scam? Nothing's happening-' All of a sudden the phone rang, he dashed to answer, "Hello?" It was the hospital, "Sir we regret to inform you but, your wife was hit by a car and has passed away. She left 100,00 dollars for you."

He didn't want to believe it, he hung up and called Jefferson, "I THOUGHT YOU SAID WE WOULDN'T KNOW THE PERSON THAT DIED!?"

Jefferson let out a sly chuckle, "Did you really know your wife?"
