"I see them," said Logan as him and Tyler peaked their heads out the door, waiting for Ashlyn, Aiden, and Ben to make their way down the hall.

Danica and Taylor were still trying to catch their breaths after sprinting all the way to the boys' room. In her entire life, Danica had never ran that fast, much less barefoot.

Tyler slammed the door shut when they finally were all in the room, locking it for safe measure. There were loud, aggressive bangs coming from the other side, and whatever those things were had no intention of letting up any time soon.

"We should put the couch up against the door," said Ashlyn.

Danica never really took the girl for the leader type. She was always kind of a loner, but there she was, calling all the shots without crumbling under the pressure.

It was definitely a big contrast to herself, who was just about ready to break down crying on the floor. Honestly, she'd never felt like more of a crybaby than she did on this trip.

She'd had an abundance of different nightmares before. Sleep paralysis, lucid dreaming, you name it, but this? This was something entirely different.

Part of her wasn't even sure if it was a nightmare, but she pushed that thought to the back of her mind. If she started telling herself that, she'd drive herself to insanity.

After moving the couch, they all sat on the floor, exhausted.

Aiden was staring ahead of him with wide eyes. There was something so unsettling about the way he could just sit there and laugh after everything.

"Why are you laughing this time?" The anger was apparent on Tyler's face, "It's like we're in a zombie movie. Is that funny to you?"

"Yeah."

Tyler shook his head in disbelief and looked around the room at everyone else, "Is he insane or something?"

Nobody responded. Danica was too busy with her head buried in her hands to even bother, although a big part of her had been wanting to ask the exact same question.

Aiden ignored the boy, turning his attention to Ashlyn, "Your arm is all scratched up. I thought I got you out of the way in time."

Danica lifted up her head and looked over to the girl's arm, cringing at the sight. She'd never seen scratches like that on anyone in real life, and somehow she was acting like it didn't hurt at all. They were long and thin, stretching the whole way down her forearm with a bright, stinging red.

"You did," she said before pausing for a brief moment, pressing her lips into a line, "I think it happened at the Sorrel Weed House."

Silence hung thick in the room for a moment. Everyone stared straight at Ashlyn, contemplating what she just admitted.

Tyler shot up from where he was sitting almost immediately.

"Tyler, let's not-," Danica said, knowing the exact reaction he was about to have. He was the kind of guy to pick a fight in English class, so it was no surprise that he'd lose his shit in a moment like this.

"God, Danica. Shut. Up." He snapped at her before returning his attention back to Ashlyn, "You mean you knew it was real and you didn't think to mention it to any of us?!"

Ashlyn's demeanor entirely changed. Danica had seen the girl annoyed before, but right now she looked like she was ready to break.

"I didn't tell anyone because I didn't think it was real," she said defensively, "and right now isn't a good time to be discussing this. We should be coming up with a plan or-,"
