Three Hours Later, Coco's House
-BREAKING NEWS-
"Reports are coming in of a high school collapsing in rural Hatchiko County, as of now it seems that nobody was hurt during the collapse, though the cause of it is still yet to be determined. We take you live to the scene where first responders are searching the debris for any victims of the collapse-"
Coco flicked the remote and turned the television off, not wanting to think about the school. She sat back on her sofa and sighed, still thinking about Rover. The soft hum of an electric fan in the corner of the room was the only thing keeping it from dead silence.
"Hey."
Coco jumped a bit.
"Again, you gotta stop scaring me like that."
Angel was standing behind her, leaning on the sofa. He rolled his eyes.
"I'm almost done cooking dinner, did you want some?"
Coco sat in silence before answering.
"No... I think I'll just go to sleep."
"Alright, I'll put some in the fridge if you get hungry, okay?"
"Okay, thanks."
Angel nodded and turned back to go to the kitchen, Coco sat dormant on the couch for a moment longer. She stared at her reflection in the television, which was warped from the convex screen. It's boxy figure occupied most of the shelf it was on, leaving little space for pictures and other decorations.
She set the remote down on the coffee table in front of her, so low one could accidentally trip on it if they weren't careful. Coco got up and turned to the side, looking at an old grandfather clock that sat beside the staircase. It's brass hands stated the time was 6:34, though early enough to have the sun still peekinh over the horizon, Coco still felt the urge to fall asleep.
She solemnly made her way up the narrow staircase, being reminded of the stairs at both Hatchiko High and Kemono High. She felt a sudden sense of worry, sure the dogs would hate her for murdering them but… what about her peers? She would be kicked from the magic school for sure if anyone found out. Sure she was a senior already and it wasn't a big worry, but a mark like that on her record would leave her hopeless.
Thoughts of being tried and arrested for her actions, being shut in jail for dog knows how long, throwing the rest of her life away because of an impulse reaction. That couldn't happen, she couldn't possibly let it happen to-
"Hey, you good?"
She jumped, turning to look down the stairs. Angel was standing at the base with a confused look on his face.
"U-Uh... yeah... sorry..."
Angel turned back and walked away. Coco, feeling embarrassed, quickly hurried up the stairs and into her and Angel's bedroom. She looked at her messy dresser and wardrobe, contemplating changing out of her school uniform, before deciding it wasn't worth it and lied down on her bed. Normally a very soft single bed, now felt like she was laying on a slab of damp concrete. The creaks and groans of the wooden frame felt severely uncomfortable to listen to.
