Evan Nash was a normal child...well as normal as he could be, also normally called Buck which his 'mom' Marcy Nash nicknamed him, because of his hyper active down right crazy behavior. She wouldn't change it for the world, she likes every single one of her son...no not step son she has been in his life since he was four months old, she loves every single one of his 'weird' quirks and indulges in everyone of his interest. Helps him on his research binges for fun facts, for her it was more weird but she would never admit that to his face.

Marcy and Evan were extremely close to one another, she absolutely loved all of her kids don't get her wrong but he was her favorite...sue her.

Buck wasn't stupid he might only be 11 years old but he isn't stupid he knows his dad struggles with addiction luckily he and his mom have managed to keep Brooke and Robert Jr. away from it. To be honest his mom probably doesn't think he knows that his dad is an addict and he also knows his dad is drinking and doing drugs again. His mouth constantly smells like peppermint mouthwash and the smoke on his clothes sometimes aren't enough to cover the smell of whiskey his dad choice.

So when he was laying in bed awake knowing he should be asleep but he can't stay still for the life of him which woke him straight up. He hears his mom voice quite but strained as he sneaks out into the hallway so he can hear yet another argument. "I don't want you here tonight Robert...you said last time was the last time. Our son is starting to catch on and he doesn't deserve to have to be worried about us at 11 years old. I shouldn't have to worry about you not being here for them...but when you drove our three kids to school yesterday were you high? Were you drunk or both?"

He sees his dad turn bright red, he hates when his parents fight, he hates when they've fought to the point of talking about separation. He would want to stay with his mother he loves his dad but he's always so tough on him but he isn't on his siblings. "It nothing Marcy I promise I'll stop please." He pleads with the women who crosses her arms at him oh his mom mad she only crosses her arms when she is pissed and Buck knows that. "Robert Wade Nash were you high or drunk when you drove my children to school this morning and yesterday morning." She demands to know and Buck knows the answer.

His dad who is extremely pressing for him to become a firefighter has been on calls, people who are high pupils are pin point and Bobby's eyes were pinpoint this morning. "Yes...I was I promise I won't do it again!"

"Leave go sleep it off somewhere I can't deal with you right now." Buck runs silently back to the room closing the door as his dad grabs his coat he jumps into bed under the covers pretending to be asleep as his mom walks in sighing. "Ev baby...how much of that did you hear?" She asks moving the hair from his eyes and he turns over frowning. "Your not in trouble Buck I promise."

"All of it mama, I couldn't stop moving in my sleep and than I heard you and daddy arguing I'm sorry I know it's not ok to listen to other people conversation. But daddy drinking again and it makes you sad." He whispers so he doesn't wake his younger siblings Brooke who is 9 and Bobby Jr. who is 7.

Marcy pulls Buck into a close hug heart shattering that her young child knows about that, it also enrages her that her husband allowed it to happen as well. She can't help but think he was willing to drive drunk and high with his kids in the car who's to say he hasn't bought any in front of the kids?

"Hey it's ok Buck you don't have to worry about me kiddo that is my job, to worry about you not the other way around." She says petting through his blond curls comforting him while also seething that he know. "Who will make sure your ok and your happy mama if I don't, I love dad but he's always gone at work. He cares more about the station than he does us." Hearing that sentence breaks her heart her eldest son is only eleven and is way to smart.
