Brooke

If I were to describe the emotion I was feeling at the moment, it would be idiotic because I was now sitting here at this restaurant with Charlotte Evans not even sitting twenty feet from me and the only thing I could focus on was her.

What are the chances that we just end up being at the same restaurant, right after we spent a night at the bar we always see each other at, coincidentally. Something isn't right. I can't go anywhere without seeing this girl there.

I came here to discuss future projects with my assistant, Ashley, after I was done with the current one which starred the lovely Charlotte Evans.

I roll my eyes at the thought of her common occupation in my mind lately. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate her, I don't hate people in general, but she was nothing more than just a friendly co-worker to me.

And I'd hoped I would make that clear over time. For now we just ran into each other coincidently over time at the bar, which was not planned at all. And that's what made everything worse.

"And for you ma'am?" I hear a voice interrupting my thoughts. I look up to the waiter who is patiently waiting for my answer.

Was I that distracted that I hadn't even noticed we were ordering food now?

"Oh, um yes." I quickly scheme over the menu and choose the quickest item on the menu I could find. "I'll take the spinach omelet with oven roasted tomatoes." I replied quickly.

God, I felt like an idiot once again. I really had to be deep into my thoughts that I didn't even notice the goddamn waiter standing right in-front of me. There goes my manners.

The waiter then takes up our menus and then walks away from the table.

I cross one leg over another as I wait for Ashley to start our little conference. "Are you okay Brooke?" She asks, her eyes full of concern. "Yeah I'm fine, what makes you think I'm not?" I questioned then bouncing my leg.

"Don't worry about it." Ashley says, "Shall we get started then?" Ashley brushes over the topic as she takes out a few folders from her bag. "We shall." I responded back to her as I took a sip of my cup of water.

Then as soon as Ashley starts with our mini conference I see movement in the corner of my eye from Charlotte and her girlfriend? I'm still not sure who she was yet but I'm pretty sure that's the position she fulfilled in her life. Of course I only assumed after our night at the bar.

The way they talked over the phone, and the harsh way Lena had dragged Charlotte into her house died my suspicions down because now you knew for sure they could be dating. There was no other solution to this unsolvable math problem I was trying to solve.

I sight to myself before I see Lena take a strand of Charlotte's dark brown hair that was hanging on the side of Charlotte's soft face and tuck it away behind her ear. Charlotte then hid her face with her hand, flustered by this girl's action.

I slightly cringe at the sight of those two flirting in a public space. Especially in a nice restaurant. What are they? Middle schoolers? Then Charlotte does another flirtatious action of guiding her hand up Lena's arm and-

"Brooke!" I hear Ashley say firmly, slightly raising her voice.

I quickly shot my eyes back to her. "Are you sure you're okay Brooke? Should we just end it early and just enjoy the breakfast?" Ashley asks now, lowering her harsher tone from before.

"No I'm fine, sorry I just- anyways, you were saying?" I reply now crossing my arms.

This wasn't like me at all. Whatever was going through my head needed to head out because I could not tolerate this, especially during my 'work' hours.
