The Next Day

I had just reached the office. I went to my seat and sat down, switching on the laptop. It was pretty early right now, just 8 AM and people were still reporting to work.

As soon as I logged in my email, I got a call from Ms. Cooper, asking me to come to her cabin. I immediately stood up and made my way to her. "Good morning, Ms. Cooper." I greeted politely and she gave me a curt nod. As usual, she already had her work ongoing.

"I am sending you a document and I want you to make a presentation of it. Make sure to keep the presentation simple, only use subtle colours and do not exceed more than 20 slides. Am I clear?" She said all this while keeping her eyes on the laptop screen while I nodded my head but earned a glare in return. "Yes, yes, I got it." I said loud and clear this time.

"Good. Get to work now. I want the presentation done before 5:30 PM." I hummed and bowed before leaving from there. Sitting down on my seat, I checked the document and started working on the presentation.

It was around 12 PM now and I haven't even completed half of the presentation. There's just so many numbers to add in this that it's getting too confusing. I thought of going and asking Ms. Cooper but then realised that she had to go for a meeting which was outside the office.

I sighed and leaned my head back. "Any problem?" I heard a voice from behind and turned around, seeing a girl looking at me with a smile. "Ah, yeah. I just.. well I am kind of confused about how to put all these numbers in one slide." She chuckled at my words. Guess I never fail to embarrass myself.

"I can help you with it." She said and walked towards me, taking a seat next to me on the chair that she dragged with her. "I'm Sarah, it's nice to meet you." She smiled at me and forwarded her hand for a handshake which I accepted. "Daniel." I said, passing her a smile.

"How are you liking it here?" She questioned me while her hands moved around on the laptop's keyboard. "It's actually really good. I'm having a good work experience here." She nodded her head at my response which gave me a flashback of "I would appreciate it if you use your words rather than nodding."

I chuckled at my random thought. How does she speak everything in such a monotonous and formal tone? "What happened?" I came out of my thoughts once Sarah's voice hit my ears. "No, nothing. I was just thinking about something." I replied and watched her do the work. Once she was done making the slide, I thanked her.
