Maddie POV

BEEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEP...

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock blaring at me to wake up. Ugh...it's 6 A.M., why do I have to get up?!

..oh wait, it's Friday. At least there's only one day until the weekend, I thought to myself. I turned the alarm off and very unwillingly got out of bed and made my way to the bathroom to shower.  I love showers so I decided to take a hot, 40 minute long shower. Not like I needed much time to actually get ready, anyway.

I dried off and wrapped my towel around myself and walked back into my room to get dressed. It was hot outside today, since it was summer and all. I put on a loose, plain grey short-sleeved shirt and dark blue jean shorts with some black Vans. Nothing fancy. Next is makeup. I wasn't really feeling it today so I just put on concealer under my eyes, applied a little mascara, and filled in my eyebrows. By the time I finished putting my makeup on my hair had dried, so I put it in a simple side braid. Then, I grabbed my backpack and went into the kitchen.

When I got to the kitchen I saw that there was already coffee ready for me in the coffee pot. Oh, how I love my mom. She knows I'm always either rushing in the morning or too lazy to do anything. In this case, I was lazy. But no matter what, I need to get my fix of coffee every day. I poured the coffee in my travel mug and mixed in some of my favorite coffee creamer -- Bailey's Creme Brulee. It's to die for. (Seriously, try it.) After that, I was ready to go to school so I grabbed my lunch and my bag and walked there. Luckily I live close to my school so it only takes about ten minutes to get there on foot.

I got to first period at 7:58. Two minutes early. I checked all my social media on my phone until the bell rang. I then had to listen to my English teacher lecture us for an hour about first grade grammar and punctuation rules. I'm almost done with ninth grade, I don't need to hear all this again. I kind of zoned out so class went by quickly. The rest of my classes before lunch also went by fast.

I went to the cafeteria and sat with the only friend I actually know in person.

"Hey, Kylie," I said as I sat down next to her.

"Hey Olivia, what's up?" She asked as she looked up at me and smiled, before continuing to eat her pepperoni pizza.

Kylie is awesome. She's super nice, hilarious, and is one of the most gorgeous girls you'll ever meet. She has naturally strawberry blonde hair that she's been dying different colors for the last couple years. She's had blue, pink, purple, green, turquoise, rainbow, you name it. Right now her hair is black and still looks great as always. And she's got the best laugh. She snorts a lot when she laughs, but it suits her.

I shrugged. "Same old, same old..." I said, sighing. "I'm definitely ready for school to be over."

She chuckled and nodded. "Girl, I feel you on that. But hey, your birthday is coming up soon, right? Are you gonna do anything fun for once?"

"Oh yeah, totally..." I laughed half-heartedly. "I'm gonna go completely crazy watching Netflix in bed and shoving food in my mouth." I said and rolled my eyes. That's pretty much how I spend all my birthdays, and the rest of my summers for that matter. I mean, what else was I going to do? I have only one friend I could hang out with, and I'm talking to her.

"Ha, ha, very funny," she said in a sarcastic tone, "I'm sure something good will come up this year." She continued and nudged my shoulder.

Wait, didn't my mom say something similar? That this year I'll get something I've been wanting... But what does that mean? I decide to ask my best friend.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask, raising an eyebrow at her.

She shrugs. "Oh, nothing. Nothing at all." She says, acting completely oblivious.
