It's Raining Somewhere

I wave after Draken and Mikey as they walk away, having finished their Taiyaki and decided to leave so me and Hina could get the rest of our work done in peace. However, judging by the way I can feel Hina's eyes boring into the back of my head, we'll be spending most of our time talking. With a sigh I turn around, my gaze meeting hers. "Okay, what's wrong?"

Hina was leaning against one of the tables, a few washcloths in her hand and a bucket of soapy water sitting beside her foot. She tosses one to me that I barely manage to catch before placing all but one of the rest of the rags on the floor. "Don't you think this whole thing is kinda weird?" Hina gives me a look that I know means she expects me to disagree and she's already scripting a response.

In a way, I can see what she might be talking about, but I come up short when trying to determine if anything is actually worth worrying about. "I guess, but I don't think they're anything to worry about. You're always suspicious of the friends I bring around, maybe you're just jealous." I walk closer as I speak, reaching down to dip the cloth into the bucket. realistically, I know it's more than that. Hina's always been a good judge of when people are lying, her first meeting with a few childhood friends of mine was a testament to that.

"Yeah, right, as if." She rolls her eyes with a smile and reaches down to dip one of her own rags into the water. She places the rag on the table in front of her and begins wiping in small circles. "But isn't it weird? Didn't you say the tall one's cats showed up outside a few days ago, how'd they end up here if neither of them live around here? Some of the stuff they said just seems a little contradictory to me, that's all. And I swear I've seen that tattoo somewhere." I nod, realizing how that is really strange.

I place my own rag on a table and begin wiping it down, my hand moving in small circles. "Maybe they did lie, I wouldn't blame them for it too much." My mind slips back to earlier when Hina started asking questions, remembering the way the atmosphere changed and Mikey and Draken became defensive. Whatever they're hiding they obviously didn't like Hina prying. It could be nothing, and I doubt it has anything to do with me, but if it'll make Hina feel better... "But if for no other reason than to calm your mind, I'll be more careful around them." I look over at her and smile as I lift my rag from the table so I can move on to another one.

Hina smiles back, her shoulders lowering a bit as she relaxes. "I guess that's all I can ask of you." With a sigh Hina removes her hand from the rag, my eyes catch on it as it continues to move in slow circles around the table. She dips the rest of the rags in the bucket and begins walking around to place them on the tables, each one starting to move the moment she places it down on the table until she's left with one last cloth that she uses to manually wipe off the last table. It would be upsetting how easily magic comes to her if she wasn't using it to help cut my clean-up time in half.

With the help of Hina's magic, plus very little of my own, we managed to finish cleaning the kitchen and dining room after an hour and a half. Hina lets out a heavy sigh as she plop's herself down into one of the chairs by the windows, propping her chin up on her hand as she looks at the now clean tables to see if we missed a spot. As if there's any chance we'll go back and clean it up if she does. "I think we've done enough for the day. I'm tired." Hina blinks slowly, lifting her chin from her hand briefly to yawn.

I stretch out my arms as I walk over to her, collapsing into the chair across from her and practically copying her pose. "You can stay over if you want, I don't mind taking the couch if you don't feel like walking home." It wouldn't be the first time she stayed the night after helping out, not the first time since we broke up either. You'd think I'd be awkward but being friends we got together helped us get over that pretty quick. All that's left is the habit's we never thought to let go of, like staying at each other's houses when we don't feel like going home, though now we sleep separately.
