I was trying to roll onto my side, but I felt someone's arm clinging to me and not letting me move. I opened one eye and saw that it was Hayley. She had wrapped her arms around me and wasn't letting go anytime soon. I looked at her and felt a smile taking over. What was happening just felt right. I lifted my arm and moved her hair away from her face, but she shook her head and moved it back. I giggled because of it and her eyes fluttered open. When she saw it was me she smiled and let out a yawn.
"Hey you" she said as she stretched.
"Hey teach" I responded. She giggled and playfully whacked me in the arm.
"I think I'm gonna dye my hair back to red" she said as she twirled a strand of her own hair between her fingers.
"Why red?" I asked. She shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't know... You seemed to like it" she muttered under her breath. I raised my eyebrow at her.
"Your hair color won't change the way I feel about you" I said. We locked eyes and she gave me a smile. She looked happy. She didn't look stressed or worried. She was finally free to be happy.
"You're always so nice to me" she said.
"Maybe it's because I'm a good person" I retorted.
"Sometimes... You can still be pretty selfish and annoying, but it makes me laugh" she giggled.
"Oh yeah... Because amusing you is why I'm alive" I said jokingly. She rolled her eyes at me.
"I'm hungry. Do you want me to make something for us to eat or should we just order food?" She asked.
"I'm fine with anything" I said. She nodded and started to get up but I grabbed her and pulled her back down to me. "You forgot something..." I said.
"What might that be" she smirked. I rolled my eyes and kissed her softly. I was going to pull away, but her hand slid to the back of my neck and held me there. My arms still hung around her midsection as hers cupped my face. When we finally pulled away for air we locked eyes and giggled a little bit.
"Now you can get food" I said.
"But now I wanna stay here" she whined and gave me puppy dog eyes. I poked the tip of her nose and she scrunched it up.
"Fine... I'll go make you some food, but you better thank me" I said as I pushed her off my lap. She smiled brightly.
"Of course!" She said. I stood up and went to the kitchen and started cooking food. I was almost done when I heard the front door open. I turned to see my parents.
"Hey mom, dad. How was work?" I asked.
"It was good. Very tiring though" mom said. I put the food on the plate and started walking back to my room.
"We're going out tonight, bring Hayley" I heard my dad say.
"Okay" I responded. I opened the door and gave Hayley the plate of food.
"Parents home?" She asked as she started scarfing down the food.
"Yeah. They said we're going out tonight and you're coming too." I said. She nodded.
"Okay" she said.
"I'm gonna go take a shower" I said as I stood up. I grabbed a towel and walked into my bathroom to get ready for the rest of the day.
