"We kill so much, it's second nature. What if they're just like us though? "Serial Designation: L
As the thunder cracked and boomed, and the water poured down from the sky, the ravens cawed. Each crack caused a group of drones to slide down the pile of the dead. Each corpse bore a yellow armband that marked them for disassembly. Red "Fatal Error" lights flickered from each corpse, except for one deep in the pile. Suddenly, on this particular screen, the drone booted up. His screen was cracked and nearly broken, and he fearfully looked around. He hated it, he wanted death more than to look anymore onto these corpses of his coworkers.
He squirmed and struggled in the pile, wriggling like a fish attempting to escape the jaws of a bird. A young and daring Australian girl said "I reckon I hear someone over here, J!"As she trotted joyfully over the corpse piles, a gray pigtailed maid drone following behind, showing swagger but secretly nervous. All the noise scared her, but she followed the Australian, who was named Tessa Elliot. "Boss, the noises came from over here." J spoke as she grabbed a hold of a dead robot's arm and began to yank on it, quickly assisted by Tessa via her pushing the drones off the pile.
When his arm was freed, the drone helped free himself via pushing drones off, and wriggling around. Once free he noticed his legs were broken from the weight. His eyes widened as he fell to the ground immediately but Tessa carried him, gently removing a silver fork with an intricate design from his eye. "Sorry about that, his father is so rude to you guys. It's time to go home." Tessa said as she eased it out of his right eye.
Once freed, black liquid trailed it, being shot into the pile, the same as the liquid already in the pile. The girl stared at him with shock. "Uh oh, that's not good." She said, realizing the situation was no longer in her control. The drone's vision faded in and out in between his warning symbols, and all his code flashed randomly. He could barely make out the moon after a few seconds, then finally collapsed, staring at the moon, then all was dark and silent.
The drone awoke later sitting in a chair. He looked down at his right shoulder, and tugged at a strange yellow band that he couldn't make out, the poor drone couldn't read. Some gray solid substance hung from his head. He had hair! The drone looked up and noticed he had been given a new suit, hair, and some black horns? "Ah! You finally woke up, L!"
L? He liked that name. "Soo, do you like the new look?" "It's absolutely perfect, down to every last detail. You could not have done better, lady Tessa." L noticed he had a voice now, unique to him. L stood up and looked down. his new suit was more polished and defined than his previous. It had more pockets, each filled with brand new equipment to help him work more efficiently.
As Tessa Elliot called all her favorite drones for a photo as she usually did every week, L was called. He nearly squealed in excitement. He took a spot between two girls, one had two ponytails, and had her arms folded. She seemed like she was pulled out of work abruptly, and was also the drone that helped rescue him. The other was S who realized it was L, and her eyes shone. L looked around at the drones around him. He noticed a few other drones, being marked N, V, and Cyn. He was then instructed to stand by the one named N, and they both posed together, as they were both the only two male workers who were favored.
L smiled, this was the best day of his life. He was finally someone worth noting, and today, he could never forget, and never would. As the camera flashed, the butler awoke from his dream.
. . .
He found himself opening the door to a colony. Seems like a worker had hit him in the head. L smiled a razor toothed smile. The inhabitants had stunned him but now it was time for another feast. As a drone desperately attempted to close the door, the disassemblers stabbed his tail through the hatch and stabbed it into the console, forcing the door open, then swapped his hand to a blade, and looked at the fearful drones. They murmured and gasped in shock, then L finally in, and began his genocide.
