Chapter 5

Regulus was sitting in his usual armchair in the living room, a book in hand and a cup of black coffee sitting on the table beside him.

It was around eight in the morning, the sun already high and spreading warmth into the house. Bella was still fast asleep in her room, but she would be up soon to feet the animals like she did every morning.

Though his relaxing moment was broken when he heard a tapping on the window, causing him to look up to see their owl, Eclipse.

Opening the window, the bird flew in and dropped a letter on Regulus' lap before landing on the arm rest beside him. It took only a few seconds for Regulus to see what the letter was, and his lips curved up into an excited grin.

After giving Eclipse a treat and a head scratch, the man ran upstairs to Bella's room and slowly walked into her room. He smiled when he saw her sleeping figure, but shook his head as he remembered what was in his hand.

"Bella, darling. It's time to wake up" He said, gently nudging her but all that earned him was a groan.

"Five more minutes" She muttered, turning her head away from him and pulled the blanket over her head.

"Alright, I guess I'll just go burn this Hogwarts letter then" Regulus sighed, getting up to walk away but stopped when Bella shot up in her bed. He had to stop himself from laughing when he saw the state of her black hair, and the drool that was still on her chin.

"My Hogwarts letter is here? Or are you telling fibs?" Bella glared jokingly, but there was obvious excitement in her eyes.

"Oh, you mean this letter?" He hummed tapping his chin thoughtfully, holding up the letter in his hand which had Bella's full name and address clearly written on the front of it.

"Yes, yes. That one" She exclaimed excitedly, making Regulus laugh and hand it over to his daughter. He sat beside her whilst she opened the letter, her grey eyes flickering over the writing on the parchment.

"I'm going to Hogwarts!!" She cheered, throwing her hands in the air before tackling her dad into a hug which he reciprocated.

"Oh, I have to tell Harry---" Bella began to say, but stopped when she heard a cracking sound and the sound of her name being called from downstairs.

"Seems he has some news also, darling" Regulus smirked, watching as the eleven year old bolted from her bed and downstairs. She came to a halt in front of Harry, who looked just as excited as she did.

"Did you get it?" He asked, his smile widening when she showed him her opened letter and the two hugged excitedly.

While the two spoke about Hogwarts, James and Regulus were in the kitchen making breakfast.

"Harry gave me a bloody heart attack this morning when he got his letter. Little shit body slammed himself into my stomach" James said, rubbing his stomach which was still somewhat throbbing.

"He may have her eyes, but he is all you. He's like a golden retriever, which he also gets from you" Regulus smirked, earning a playful glare from the Potter man. Onyx, Regulus' now fully grown cat, was rubbing up against his owners leg and meowed at him. Black bent down to give him a chin scratch, before filling up his bowl with food.

"Let me guess, you threatened her to wake up?" James stated with a quirked brow, grinning when Regulus rolled his eyes fondly.

"I threatened to burn the letter" He chuckled, taking a sip of his fresh coffee.

"That'll do it" James laughed just as Harry and Bella came into the kitchen.

"Morning, uncle Jamie" Bella chirped, walking over to give him a tight hug which he returned.
