3rd Person P.O.V
"AMY!!!"
That was the last thing she heard... before she woke up...
Punched in the gut by a robot, she woke up in a cold sweat, sitting up in the hospital bed. Sonic in panic mode next to her, and Shadow in the corner, who was dragged by the blue hedgehog.
No one else was there however, they were too busy. "Amy!" The azure hedgehog with tears in his eyes wrapped his arms around his loved one, broke down against her.
Amy, still in shock, slowly hugged back... "What happened..?" Sonic sobbed lowly, "The impact... I wasn't fast enough... I'm sorry... you-... our baby... they're..." And he broke down once more, holding her close.
Shadow huffed in the corner, turning his head away in regret, knowing he could've done something to save her... but his anger, something he'd always had a problem with, was too hard to overcome.
Amy let go of her husband and lifted the blanket covering her... blood. Lots of it. No sign of the baby bump she once had, her stomach now flattened as blood covered it...
She felt tears well up in her eyes as she started to cry, hugging Sonic back tightly. "...I'm sorry for your loss." The dark one in the corner said. Amy suddenly became aware of his presence... and the memories come flooding back.
Flashback
Amy was surrounded by robots, Sonic was too far away to reach her. "Sonic!! Shadow!! Help!!" She shouted, afraid that Sonic couldn't reach her and Shadow would still hold a grudge against the couple for their little spat which they had previous to the attack, which said attack interrupted.
Shadow looked over, he knew he could've chaos speared the robots away and saved her... to be honest, below his boiling rage, he didn't want her fighting in her fragile condition, as he still cared about her... Yet his pride, his ego, and his anger stopped him. He watched... as the robot punched her stomach in... and her baby died...
And the guilt hit him like a punch to the gut... which both Sonic and the robots gave to him plenty o times.
End Flashback
"...You could've done something." She spoke, tears rolling down her face as she looked at the dark hedgehog. "You watched my baby get killed... you- you monster..." She started to sob again. "You MONSTER!!!" Sonic held her as she tried to get out of bed, gently pushing her back. "I already hit him for it, relax."
Shadow knew it wouldn't take the blame off him, but he still spoke, "...If you really think about it, it was Eggman's fault-" "I WILL KILL YOU BOTH!!!" Amy screamed as she broke down once more, burying her head in her hands...
Soon enough, the doctor had walked in. "I have terrible news..." She spoke, making Sonic look at her, crazed. "Our baby is DEAD, what else is there to tell us?!" The shocked doctor gulped down her fear and shakily looked at her clipboard, "U-Um... y-your wife... the hit made her infertile... I'll just- let that sink in..." She inched out of the room as the couple froze to process that.
They couldn't have any more babies..?
The pink hedgehog always had a dream... a dream to have children, a family... but now that was stripped from her... because of- no, no, she knew it wasn't right to blame...
But she knew it was the only two living members of the Robotnik family. That being Shadow, and the doctor himself. "...I'm sorry I didn't do any-" Shadow started, but was cut off. "BULLSHIT! You killed my baby, you hurt my flesh and blood, and now you're SORRY?!" Sonic snapped, clenching his teeth at who he thought was his friend.
Shadow's ears pinned to his head, "I really mean it... I'm sorry... I will-" "Do what? What can you do? You killed our baby and our only chance to have one. What can you do?" Shadow stayed silent for a moment... "Well... I supposed if you ever want to adopt... I'll be there to assist..? I can help with anything, really. I'll do anything..."
Sonic glared. "Then shall we test that..?"
