Chapter Two: Fear

~*~

There was a sound of water rippling through an open pipeline. Birds sang in the trees and the wood looked great and lively. I spotted a woodpecker on the snout of a little deer and I smiled. All was perfect.

Sunlight streamed through the trees and I closed my eyes to savour in the fresh warmth. It lasted for two seconds, before I felt something hard and icy hit my arm. Then my head. Then my nose.

I opened my eyes only to see hale falling in waves from the sky. I screamed but...but- only a blinding fog came from my throat.

I tried to run. I tried to run from my own self. I distinctly made out figures lurking in the bushes. I paused. And that's when I heard it. That howl. The howl that awakened memories no one needed to relive.

A great shadow towered over me and I took a step back in fear. It was the same wolf. It was jet black and had a white mark on its left ear. I would recognise it anywhere. Five years is a long time to wait for revenge...

***

Sunlight peeked at me and I let out a startled gasp as I hit the floor with a loud thud. I groaned and listened in for the occasional stereo music Rebecca plays when she's banging some random dude.

Surprisingly, there was not a sound in the entire house. I stretched out my hand to hit the snooze button on my alarm clock but what the-?

A loud crash followed. Startled, I turned my head only to see broken pieces of glass on the floor.

Confusion washed over me first, before realisation took over, hitting me like a freight train.

I quickly jumped out of the bed and to the door, trying not to be startled when I couldn't make out my surroundings.

Terrified as tears formed in my eyes, I clasped the cross hanging around my neck that said "Jesus is the master key"

Lord protect me.

Lord protect me.

Lord protect m-.

I froze as a shadow descended over me. It moved slowly over everything, leaving a faint trail of destruction in its wake.

It slowly descended upon me, and I was shocked out of my reverie when a misty hand reached out to grab my cross.

It was a blinding mixture of little smoke and an inhuman hiss of pain as my cross was dropped back against my chest, feeling warm and sticky.

I scrambled back, frightened when the fog-like shadow retreated then just disappeared into thin air.

My knees buckled beneath me, and I gave way to the pressure as I fell to the floor. I let out a shaky breath to calm myself down then held out my chain to examine the damage done it, trying to ignore the hammering of my heart against my chest.

There was a sticky red liquid edged alongside the words "Jesus". It looked like...I peered closer as a loud scream cut through the house...it looked like blood.

Hey hey hi hi. I've been really busy lately so I couldn't update. I apologise.

On a much brighter note, next week I'm wrapping up at school so I would be updating frequently. Until then, stay blessed.
