If there is anything I have learned—
No one can make you happy; except yourself.
No one.
You can't keep putting conditions on your happiness; and you can't keep putting conditions onto others; and yourself.
"If " you have something, you'll be happy;
Don't do that.
"When this happens" you'll be happy;
Or "When this happens;
I'll start."Just do the damn thing.
Do it scared. Do it.
Just do it already!!!
Stop putting rules in place; "I have to do it this way because ___"
Why? Tell me; why do you have to.
Because; you have this idea? This,, idealized image, of what success looks like?
Of what happiness looks like?
I have never before, become so aware, of how ridiculous we are as humans. We are so very capable; knowledgeable; worthy— hell; even just excited and enthusiastic. But we stop ourselves because we think, we have to be: anything else; than ourselves.
What is that about?
The only person, the only thing, the only—- listen to me;
The only person, you can control, is yourself. —- your choices. You get to choose.
Do you hear me? You get to choose!
What other being, on the planet, (that we know of), gets to choose who we become?
On the path to getting there; we cannot control what happens.
However, we can certainly influence the options, the direction; with our choices.
It sounds so very simple; written on paper; written and read.
Simply because it is.
We make it complicated— sure, we are by nature, made to avoid things that could put us in danger.
What is ironic, and frankly, honestly, very frustrating for yourself, is: How very complicated we make things.
And I say—; I write, this laughing. Shaking my head with an amused, half-raised grin. Because, it's so ridiculous. It's silly.
Do you really need to bring three different pairs of shoes just "in case" when you go out?
Do you really need to have all of your books, your bookshelf organized, to have a clean room?
Do you really need, to meditate every day or else, you'll never be happy unless you are living like a monk??!
Monks can only do that because they literally live in a place, secluded and dedicated to that practice. Every other need, is met. All they have to do is get up, and do the thing.
Just to be clear though, I am NOT taking away from the incredible and enlightened abilities of monks.
I am just simply making a point.
I remember my dad showing me this "retreat" or experience—- I can't find the right word for it at the moment.
Where: you can live as a monk. You might know what I am talking about; you might not.
Either way, this place is dedicated to that.
You literally have to remove yourself from modern day society, to experience, life, to that degree.
My point, is: this idea, we have in your heads, this idealistic image, is exactly that.
A thought.
An image; and idea.
Because; humans are capable creatures? Yes, but we dream up inconceivable standards; expectations; rules; and etc... for ourselves (for no reason— though, we think of reasons to validate our expectations and beliefs.
And then bully ourselves, and in some cases; others, alongside ourselves, when it doesn't go our way. More, ironically, even when we don't even try!!
Now—- I; as a person and individual, have not mastered this. I definitely, create unrealistic standards for myself and then get mad, bully and sulk—ugh;
It is not fun saying that.
Seriously. *laughs*For myself. I shouldn't. But alas, I am human; which, I do, genuinely see as a gift. I wouldn't want to be any other creature, or any other person, than myself.
I love myself; frustrating perfectionism and all.
Like all of us, we are getting the hang of being human.
Continuously. And, isn't it truly beautiful, absolutely stunning and breathtaking when we finally push aside, kick aside and throw away our care for our fears; our prioritized attention to our fears, and at last pay attention to our dreams? Our hearts? Our happiness?
I think it's beautiful.
I Believe it's heartwarming. I believe it is absolutely brilliant and inspiring.From the bottom of my heart. I truly love how strong we are.
We are a beautiful, Enigmatic; and simple; creation,, of the universe.
And I believe that is just beautiful.
