Truly, the mysteries that await within this enigmatic realm are boundless, and I am eager to unravel its secrets.

I snapped back to reality at the sound of someone clearing their throat; indeed, I was firmly entrenched in reality. This place, my supposed home, still boggles my mind. It's hard to fathom that this island is my residence, especially considering I'm not even human.

Upon hearing the throat clearing, I turned around to pinpoint the source, only to find Jake standing there. "That castle up ahead is your residence—the Roman Castle. It serves as your sanctuary for dining, rest, and, I suppose, routine. Constructed hundreds, if not thousands, of years ago by your esteemed ancestor, Riochi Xylem, this island bears our family name," he declared with evident pride.

In awe, I gazed back at the castle, a smile tugging at my lips. The prospect of exploring a castle has always held allure, but could it truly be meant for just Jade, my parents, and me? "Hey, Jake. Isn't this castle a bit excessive for just us?" I inquired, my curiosity piqued.

His reaction was a mixture of confusion and amusement, culminating in hearty laughter. "You genuinely think this castle is solely for your family? My dear cousin, allow me to dispel that notion. This edifice houses at least fifteen generations of our kin. In fact, there are guards and soldiers stationed within. With approximately 1,500 rooms, it easily accommodates our lineage—more than adequately so," he explained, his amusement evident.

The sheer magnitude of the revelation left me dumbfounded. Did that mean my great-great-great-grandfather resided here? "No, I see the gears turning in your head. Your parents' great-grandfather merely had an extensive brood," he quipped, his tone laden with a hint of sarcasm.

"It's time to enter the castle. Everyone awaits your arrival," Jake announced, motioning for us to follow as he strode ahead with a bright smile adorning his face. I couldn't recall ever seeing Mr. Duh—of all people—smile like that.

Jade's firm grip on my hand spurred me forward. Despite my burgeoning excitement, the journey to the castle seemed interminable.

At the Castle Door.

Well, it turned out to be a mere ten-minute trek.
Standing before the grand double-jointed golden doors, I sighed audibly. How were we expected to breach this fortress? We weren't exactly Hulk incarnate. Tentatively, I approached the door, trailing my hand over its surface in search of any hidden mechanisms. While handles were present, I doubted they alone could grant us entry.

Suddenly, the door swung open, catching me off guard. Pressed against it, I stumbled backward onto my rear, eliciting laughter from the onlookers. Glancing up, I beheld Jake and Jade, their mirth palpable.

"What's so amusing? You're supposed to be assisting, not laughing, you imbeciles!" I retorted, fearing more laughter behind me. Swiveling around, my eyes widened at the sight of over a hundred individuals occupying the room.

What a first impression.

My gaze dropped, only to be met by the most angelic voice I'd ever heard. Unlike the dreamt voices, this one exuded softness, reassurance, and calmness. "My child, never lower your gaze. It betrays no weakness; you are far from feeble," the ethereal figure pronounced. Raising my eyes, I beheld a resplendent lady with silver tresses and deep sapphire eyes, her attire reminiscent of golden robes adorned with a crown.

Could she be my mother? The endearment "my child" suggested as much. If so, she was undeniably beautiful. Was this where I inherited my silver locks?

Lost in admiration, I accepted her outstretched hand, its touch soft as silk. As she assisted me to my feet, her embrace enveloped me. "I've missed you dearly," she whispered softly, tears dampening my shoulder. Turning to Jade, she beckoned, drawing us into a maternal embrace.

"Ah, Jake, the bearer of my daughters, alive and well. Don't you think you deserve a hug as well?" she jested, her radiant smile showcasing flawless ivory teeth.

Embracing Jake warmly, she exuded maternal warmth, her demeanor infectious.

One Hour Later.

Gathered around the dining table, everyone occupied a seat—surprising yet unsurprising.

Not having glimpsed our father since our arrival, I mulled over whether to broach the topic. Did his absence signify something more, perhaps his passing?

"My child, I sense a torrent of queries swirling in that inquisitive mind of yours. Care to share?" my mother inquired, her amused chuckle piercing the air.

"Dad's whereabouts? I assumed he'd be here, eager to welcome us," I ventured, prompting a lighthearted chuckle from my mother. Was it truly that amusing?

"Your father. His joy at your return radiates through me; I sense his impatience to rush home and envelop you both in hugs and kisses. Despite his regal stature as king, he remains principal of Xylem High Academy. A pressing engagement detained him, delaying his homecoming," she elucidated calmly.

School here? "There are schools here?" Jade interjected. "Indeed, my dear. Xylem High Academy reigns as the premier educational institution for supernaturals. Every inhabitant has graced its halls. Your turn has come, along with Jake's," she affirmed serenely.

"How intriguing. When do classes commence?" Jade inquired, her gaze meeting mine as she sipped from a glass containing a crimson elixir—wine, perhaps?

"Had I planned, classes would commence tomorrow. However, tomorrow marks your 18th birthday, coinciding with a full moon. Deciding whether to attend is your prerogative," Mom remarked, noting my palpable excitement with a giggle.

Opting for tomorrow, I yearned for the adventures that awaited—a new school, a new life, and, most importantly, a fresh start.

Entering my lavishly appointed bedroom, I marveled at its vast expanse, swathed in pristine white—a personal sanctuary.

Anticipation brimming, I indulged in a luxurious bath, relishing every moment. Emerging revitalized, I embarked on my nighttime rituals, culminating in slipping into plush pajamas before collapsing onto my bed, utterly spent.

Reflecting on the whirlwind day, I mused on the surrealism of my new reality. Once mere fantasy, I now inhabited a world brimming with dragons, flying denizens, and boundless wonder. Could this be real?

Tomorrow promised a pivotal milestone—unveiling newfound powers, navigating the corridors of Xylem High Academy, forging friendships, and, above all, celebrating my birthday.

As consciousness ebbed, I surrendered to sleep, eager to embrace the adventures that awaited.
