Naina's pov:-As I drove, Ruhaan's voice filled the car, "Mumma, I want ice cream!".
"You can have one when we arrive," I replied, keeping my eyes on the road. He let out a gentle sigh, "Okay..." "Just five more minutes, okay?" I assured him, trying to distract him from his craving.
He hummed a soft "Hmm..." before his excitement took over again, "Mumma, I'm so excited! I want to try lots of rides!" he exclaimed. I smiled, knowing his adventurous spirit.
"Okay, do you want to try the Ferris wheel too?" I asked, already aware of his potential fear of heights.
I wanted to encourage him to be fearless, even if he didn't openly admit his fears. After a brief pause, he responded, "Maybe... or maybe not." I smiled, understanding his hesitation. "And here we are!' I announced, as we finally arrived at our destination.
🌻
"Ooo, madam!'' someone shouted, and I turned to see Simar standing there, one hand in her pocket and the other clutching her phone.
"Can't you hear ?'' she yelled again, drawing the attention of passersby. I felt my face flush with embarrassment; she never missed an opportunity to mortify me.
Just then, Ruhaan sprinted towards her, shouting "Maasi!" and embracing her tightly. "My baby!'' she cooed, sweeping him up in her arms.
I rolled my eyes, wondering why she needed to be so loud. "Are you done now? Come on, people are staring," I said, growing irritated. "Let them watch, I know I'm gorgeous," she retorted, setting Ruhaan down.
"Simarpreet Kaur Saini, if you don't shut up, I'll... "
"Calm down, young angry woman," she said, sauntering towards me and enveloping me in a hug. I hugged her back, despite my frustration. "Now let's go, or we'll have to wait in a long line," she said, breaking the hug.
"Aren't you the one wasting time?'' I asked. "Nope, when did I waste time? You're the one standing here, interrogating me.''
"I've been standing here for 4 minutes and 32 seconds, watching your madwoman version," I shot back.
"Offo, you two start again" Ruhaan said, face-palming himself. "Baby, look, your mumma is scolding me," Simar pouted.
"Mumma, let's go,'' Ruhaan said, tugging on my finger. ''Let's go,'' Simar and I chimed in unison. ''Stop copying me,'' she teased. ''You first,'' I replied.
Finally, we entered the amusement park, greeted by a stunning garden and a relatively empty ticket counter, thanks to our early arrival.
🌻
"Mumma, look there!'' Ruhaan exclaimed, bouncing with excitement. I followed his gaze, and my eyes widened in awe. The only word that escaped my lips was ''wow.'' To my surprise, someone else echoed the same sentiment at the exact same moment - none other than my dear bestie, Simar.
''Stop copying me!'' we chimed in unison once again, prompting Ruhaan to burst into laughter.
As we made our way through the park, Ruhaan's excitement only grew. He dragged us to the bumper cars, where Simar and I engaged in a friendly battle, laughing and spinning around the track.
Ruhaan squealed with delight, cheering us on. Next, we headed to the merry-go-round, where Ruhaan insisted on riding the horse that went 'neigh' when you pressed a button. Simar and I sat on either side, holding him tight as the ride spun around.
After a few more hours of fun, we decided to take a break and grab some lunch. Ruhaan devoured his favorite burger, while Simar and I indulged in some well-deserved coffee and sandwiches.
Rejuvenated, we ventured into another section of the park, discovering a water ride area. Ruhaan's eyes sparkled with excitement. ''I want to slide on the water slide!'' he exclaimed. There was no way I was going to let him go alone, so Simar and I joined in on the fun too.
As we changed into our swimwear, Ruhaan couldn't contain his excitement. ''Mumma, I'm going to go so fast!'' he shouted, racing towards the slide. Simar and I followed close behind, screaming and laughing as we zoomed down the slide together.
After a few more rounds, we decided to take a break and enjoy some ice cream.
As the day drew to a close, we left the park, exhausted but exhilarated. Ruhaan fell asleep in the car, a contented smile on his face. Simar turned to me and grinned. ''Best day ever, right?'' I nodded in agreement.
Simar has been my rock since our school days, and I can't imagine my life without her. We've shared countless memories, laughter, and tears together. While she can be infuriatingly stubborn and nosy at times, I know she always comes from a place of love and concern. Through thick and thin, Simar has been my constant confidante and supporter.
She's the one who knows how to push my buttons, but also knows exactly what to say to make me feel better. I've lost count of how many times she's been there for me, offering a listening ear or a comforting hug.
Despite her occasional annoying habits, I cherish our friendship and feel grateful to have her in my life. She's more than just a best friend - she's a sister, a partner in crime, and a constant source of strength.
