It was snowing that day...

"Mama look! It's snowing!" Little Sakura Kurata exclaimed, dragging her mother towards the window. Her mother, Sana Kurata, laughed at her daughter's efforts, "Okay, okay, I'm coming!" Sana wiped her hands on her apron, for she was washing dishes before Sakura came to her wanting her attention.

"See, it's snowing!" Sakura let go if her mother and climbed onto the window seat, and placed her tiny hands on the cold glass. "Isn't it beautiful?"

"Indeed it is, my little blossom."

Suddenly an idea came to Sakura. "Can we go and play in the snow?"

Sana shook her head, "It's late." Sakura frowned and looked down sat the floor sadly. Sana also frowned, not liking to see her little girl so down. "How about we play in the snow tomorrow? When there's more snow to play in. Plus daddy will be home soon, and he'll be very hungry. So how bout we cook something yummy for him?"

Sakura perked up at her mother's words and nodded. "Okay! Let's cook for daddy!" She grabbed her mother's hand and pulled her toward the kitchen.

No longer than two hours later, Hiro Kurata walked in the cozy home, greeted by a wonderful aroma. "Mmm, what's that smell?" He took off his coat, which held all his anti-vampire weapons, and his boots. Hiro sighed I. Relief that he wasn't dead, and survived another day at work.

"Mama! Daddy's home!"

"But how- Wait! Sakura!"

He stood up when he heard the rushing footsteps of his lovely wife and daughter.

"Daddy!" Sakura exclaimed jumping into her fathers awaiting arms.

Hiro laughed and hugged his daughter, "Well hello, my little girl!"

Sana rushed and turned the corner finding her husband and daughter's reunion. Sana smiled and walked over to them. She gave her husband a kiss and a hug, with Sakura still in between them.

Everything was perfect...
~
The small family sat at the kitchen table. Hiro stuffing his face, Sana eating with her manners, and Sakura playing with her food.

"So Sakura what did you learn today?" Hiro asked his daughter.

Sakura smiled, "Well mama told me I might get my fangs early because I'm different, and that I'm a pureblood, so I'm extra special!"

Hiro looked at Sana, who had her head down. "Really?"

"Yep!"

Hiro sighed and put his fork down, "Saku-"

Sakura interrupted and looked down sadly, "I have to hidden an be careful when I'm with people because evil people want me, because I'm very special. I know daddy."

Both of her parents frowned, not wanting her to feel down, and wondered how two hunters created a pureblood/human child.
~
Hiro and Sana tucking in their daughter for the night...

"Night daddy. Night mama." Sakura yawned.

They smiled at their daughter. "Good night, our-"

The sound of the front door slamming and hushed whispers stopped them from tucking Sakura in, and Sakura was fully awake.... and scared.

Sana pulled her daughter towards her, "Hiro, they're here."

"I know. Take Sakura and go."

"Daddy, what's happening?" Sakura asked clinging to her mother.

Hiro kissed his wife and hugged his daughter. "Sakura daddy loves you very much... This might be the last time you see daddy-"

Sakura starting crying, "Daddy, what are you saying?!" She shook her head, "You don't-"

"Shh look at me." Hiro made his daughter look at him, holding her face in his hands. "Stay strong and make it out of here alive. I love you and I'm glad an proud that I am your father."

By this time Hiro had tears in his eyes, but knew he had to stay strong. He gave one last kiss on his daughters forehead, and shared one last passionate kiss with his wife.

The hushed whispers got closer to the room.

"Hurry!"

Hiro opened the trapdoor in Sakura's closet and helped his girls in. "I love you," he said one last time before closing the door and locking it.

Sana pushed her daughter foward, "Hurry start crawling."

"But-" Sakura started.

"Now Sakura."

She never heard her mother talking in that tone with her, so she started crawling away from the door with her mother behind her.
~
Although they were a long ways from where they started, they heard the screams of Hiro Kurata. Sana cried silently, as did Sakura. They both hoped was okay, but somewhere deep down they knew... He was dead.
~
The final act of protection.
Hiro thought as is brought out his lighter. He crawled towards the gas puddle and threw the lighter. It's all up to you now my dear Sana.

Stay safe... Sakura.
~
Sakura saw a opening of light at the end of the narrow tunnel they've been crawling in for what seemed like hours. "Mama look!" Sana was going to reply when something yanked her foot.

"Sakura go!"

"Huh?" Sakura looked back only to see a monster trying to kill her mother.

"I love you my blossom. Hurry go!"

Sakura found the courage to keep going. She looked behind her after reaching the end of the long tunnel and saw the body if the dead monster, and her dead mother.

Sakura cried and tried shielding herself from the cold. she started walking again knowing that her parents would've wanted her to get as far away from here.

And in the distance she could see the home she grew up in... Burn.

On that snowy day... For the first time... it snowed black snow.
