GASTON CHAMBERS

Clara is sitting at the table, looking down at her hands, a sad look across her face, tears in her eyes

Clara: Who knows?

Alon: Alicent's handmaiden, Talya. Some of the servants.

Clara stands up and approaches her brother standing beside him

Clara: We saw him last night.....before he----

Alon: Alicent and Otto will twist this into making Aegon King.

Clara: What do we do?

Alon: Gather everyone and pack our belongings. We're leaving. We need to prepare for what is coming.

He walks past her heading towards the door

Clara: What is coming, Alon?

Alon: War.

He throws open the door and leaves the chamber. Clara turns to the fireplace and stares into the flames, tears flowing down her face.

SMALL COUNCIL CHAMBER

Alon is sitting in his usual seat as Tyland takes a seat at the table

Tyland: What is it that could not have waited an hour? War Dorne invaded?

Alicent is sitting in the King's seat with Otto and Criston on either side of her.

Otto: The King is dead. We grieve for Viserys the Peaceful.....our sovereign.....our friend.

Alon lowers his head, tears brimming in his eyes.

Otto: But he has left us a gift. With his last breath, he impressed upon the Queen his final wish: that his son Aegon.......should succeed him as Lord of the Seven Kingdoms.

Alon's eyes widens in shock and horror, his jaw drops.

Alon: Rhaenyra is his Heir.

Otto: This was the King's final wish, Lord Alon.

Tyland: Then we may proceed now with the full assurance of his blessing and our long laid plans.

Alon: Long laid plans?!! Rhaenyra-----you risk pulling the relam into war!

He leaps up out of his chair looking around the table, glaring at each one of the council members in anger

Alon: Well if you go through with this, my House will not be part of this. Consider this my resignation from the Small Council, you traitorous cunts!

He turns and storms to the door kicking the doors open with a loud thud leaving the chamber.

Otto: There is much to be done as we've previously discussed. Now there are two among the captains of the City Watch that remain loyal to Daemon.

Otto slowly plops himself down into the chair.

Otto: Let us replace them. Lord Lannister.

Tyland: The Treasury is well in hand. The gold will be divided for safekeeping.

Otto: Let ravens be sent to our allies, Riverrun and Highgarden.

Alicent: Am I to understand that members of the small council have been planning secretly to install my son without me?

Jasper: My Queen, there was no need to sully you with darkling schemes.

Beesbury: I will not have this. To hear that you are plotting to replace the King's chosen heir. You run the risk of angering House Gaston and in doing so, risk angering the North who will side with Backton's Keep.
