To Be as Strong as You Pt. 1

Peach was drinking a cup of tea on a beautiful moonlit night as she pondered the action she just took. Perhaps calling the Knight at such a late time was a bad move. But she couldn't  just go to sleep with all of these thoughts in her head.

She sighed as she looked out at her kingdom while she drank her beverage in her PJ'S. It had only been a few minutes since she first made the call, yet it felt like an eternity due to the wave of emotions she was feeling right now.

Excitement. Anxiety. Happiness. Regret. It was a maelstrom of complex feelings she had to put to rest. And maybe if she actually talked with somebody as strong as Meta, maybe she can-

"You called, your Highness?"

Peach almost fell off the balcony due to how startled she was as she looked back and saw Meta Knight's yellow eyes shine in the shadowy corner of the night.

"Meta! By Toadsworth's beard you almost killed me there!"

She says as she tries to laugh off the incident.

Peach swore she heard the Knight let out a small chuckle.

"I did not mean to inflict any more stress on you, Princess...."

"Of course, of course. Have a seat. I've already set up a cup for you!"

Meta Knight takes a seat at the small table as Peach walks over to two kettles.

"Caff or Decaff?"

"Either one is fine."

He said as Peach poured him a cup.

Hrnn. Something troubles you Princess. I can sense.

Peach let out a deep sigh.

Is it that obvious?

Only to those who are perceptive enough to tell. You are quite good at keeping your spirits up. He retorts.

Peach Chuckles

Indeed I am. But recently I have been having some....doubts.

Doubts?

Peach looks away for a moment, then looks back at him.

Mario and Luigi have done everything they can to help rescue me from Bowser's dastardly clutches for years now. And I've been on so many adventures. But.....I don't know! I feel like I haven't properly put in as much as much effort as they have.

Meta seemed to chuckle at this declaration

Oh c'mon Meta! This is no laughing matter!

You are right Princess, self improvement is no laughing matter. But the thought if you not being as capable as your overs is....

Peach froze up as soon as she heard the Star Warrior's comment

I....beg your pardon? Said Peach as her interest was peaked.

Meta Knight lets out a deep sigh as he looked to Peach

Princess, when I was a younger and much more brash man, I invaded the planet Popstar in order to rid the world of its "laziness epidemic". Meta seemed to cringe violently at that last remark he made.

To say thevProncess was flabbergasted would be an understatement Oh my goodness! Meta! Why would you do such a thing?!

Meta Knight sighed as he out diwn his cup fir the final time. I was a foolish man on a foolish quest for perfection. Yet despite that, my crew still would've followed me to hell and back. And they almost did. However, that all changed when a certain star child arrived on the Halberd in hopes of defeating me.....

Peach smiled at this recollection Kirby....

Meta Knight nods Correct your Highness. He was the one who showed me that despite my own powerful status and skillet, the reason I failed that was because I let my own views of strength overshadow the strengths of everybody else. Without him, I may not be the man you see before you.

Princess Peach takes a short time to consider what Meta Knight was trying to say before speaking up.

Meta....what exactly are you trying to say here?

That physical prowess is not the only path to strength. You more than anyone else are evidence of that. He said with a bit more conviction.

I beg your pardon?

Your leadership, your generosity, your intelligence, those traits are what help you stand out  from the Mario Brothers. And that is not to say that you are incapable of fighting your own battles, or it's wrong to improve on your combat prowess. I just want you to know that you NEVER have to throw away what makes you special in order to be as strong as your peers.

Stands up and looks over the balcony

I will help you refine your combat skills Princess,but there is one thing you must know before then: You have the innate ability to bring people together, Peach. That is a blessing, not a curse. Never forget that.

Peach wiped a tear from her eye as she heard that final statement. Meta Knight looked back and saw Primcess Peach's tears well up.

Princess? I am so sorry for-

He is quickly silenced once his round body is wrapped in her warm embrace

Oh thank you thank you THANK YOU META! You're so kind!

Meta Knight chuckles at her response

Is this that for agreeing to train you or the positive reaffirment?

Both.

Well then, coughs I believe the best time to start would be tomorrow. Meta Knight spreads his wings Will you be ready?

Peach smiles

As I'll ever be.

Meta Knight noded as he flew off into the night, disappearing as fast as he arrived.

Once he was as far away as possible, Peach slowly waked back into her bedroom and crashed into her bed. And after that, she dreamed. She dreamed of the intense training she would have to endure in order to improve herself for the better. Her heart pounded with fear ad excitement for what was up next for her.
