A week passed by before I could even register it. My father would check up on me every day, as the doctors did tests on me. Neither of them told me anything. My father would tell me about his day, how the family was, and then he'd eventually leave again.
The doctors refused to give me any updates. I was bedridden for 2 weeks. That was all I knew.
And then every night, when the visiting hours were over and the doctors left me alone.. Lando would sneak inside.
Sometimes he have to bribe nurses to let him in my room, other times he'd slip in through open windows..
We'd talk about everything under the sun. He spent the first week of his short summer break, in an incredibly boring part of Belgium, simply to be with me.
We laughed until our stomachs ached, and he'd always stay until I fell asleep.
And yet, nothing ever happened between us.
Because whenever I was alone, whenever my mind finally got to relax, I'd always think of him.
The one and only Charles Leclerc.I didn't know how he was doing, if he was still in the hospital.. I had nobody to ask.
I couldn't ask my father, that would mean admitting I'd been secretly seeing Charles. And it wasn't fair to ask Lando. He'd already been hurt enough.
So here I lay, sleepless.
Today is the day, the night. The drivers gala.
Lando left an hour ago, after I literally forced him to go. And Charles... I still haven't heard from him.
I don't even have a phone since it broke with my fall, leaving me with no ability to get in touch with him.
I stare up at the dark ceiling.
What if he's actually out of the hospital? What if he's forgotten about me, and gone to the drivers gala with his actual girlfriend? Worry spreads through my entire body, as I suddenly start to lose my breath.
He's forgotten about me.
The door suddenly opens, sending me out of my thoughts immediately.
Startled, and honestly scared, I watch carefully as the door opens in the darkness. It's dead silent in the room. I squint my eyes. Who the fuck is coming into my room now..?
And then I see it, see him..
"Charles?" I ask into the darkness.
He grins widely, taking a step forward.
"Evelyn." He replies, in a breath of relief. His brunette hair is set perfectly with hair wax, and on his body, a completely black suit covers him.
I grin, in shock.
"You're here.?" I mumble, as if I have to confirm this isn't something I'm imagining. Holding something behind his back, Charles walks up to the side of my bed, his shoes glistening in the dark room.
"I'm here." He confirms in a whisper. With a careful, gentle touch, his fingers brush against my cheek, sending cold shivers down my spine.
His cologne roams the room, and I can feel my muscles tense by simply his presence.
I allow myself to smile up at him, leaning into his soft touch, that I've missed so dearly. "Where have you been.. Are you okay?" I ask, hearing my voice break ever so slightly as I speak.
I'm more sensitive than ever, and I have at least a million questions circling my mind.
The corners of Charles' mouth lift into a gentle, sweet smile. "I've been here as well, just a floor over you" He whispers back, his voice a raspy mess as his hand runs over my temple caressingly. "But I'm okay now, I got released just 10 minutes ago" He tells me.
