Evelyn
My dad and I are sitting in our Mercedes. He's completely ignoring me while he presses down the speeder. I took too long getting ready, so now we're late by about an hour.
Today is the British Grand Prix. Which means I have to go to the race with my dad. I don't understand why because I have zero interest racing.Even though both my mom and dad are former racers, I have never had the same interest in cars and just Motorsport in general. My parents of course tried to force me into racing, but after they realized I had zero skill at driving, they gave up. Now I spend most of my time playing the piano. I have no idea where my interest in music is from, but it's just always been there. At the moment I play on the piano in my band, and I absolutely love it.
"Remember the rules?" My dad asks as we pull into the parking lot. "Dad I'm literally 20 years ol-" I start but my dad interrupts me. "That doesn't mean the rules don't apply" He says while parking the car. "Gosh dad" I complain. "I have to stay by your side at all times, and I cannot speak with any of the drivers without you being there" I say mocking him. "Good" He says stepping out of the car. I step out of the car and we walk towards the paddock.
"No boy will ever be good enough for you, Evelyn" My dad tells me, while putting his arm around my shoulder. I chuckle at his comment.
Within 5 minutes inside the paddock my dad has already been taken away by mechanics and other workers. But it doesn't face me, now I'm finally on my own. I walk out of the paddock. I quickly get lost but that's the best part. Eventually you'll talk to someone or you'll see something. My favorite moments of my life have happened while I was lost around the track.
I met my best friend Juliet while I was running around at 10 years old, ever since then we've been inseparable. I even met my first boyfriend at the track. We used to secretly meet up at races, but my dad unfortunately got suspicious when I started actually wanting to see races. I ended up with stricter rules, which forced me to never see him again.
"Are you lost?" A man asks as I look around. "Maybe a bit" I answer looking at him. "Where were you going?" He asks with a heavy, but cute accent. "No where honestly, but I can't find my way back to the Mercedes paddock now" I say to him.
"Well I could show the way if you want?" He says to me. I smile at him. "That would be very nice" I answer."So you enjoy racing?" He asks me while we're walking. "Not really, my dad forces me to go" I answer. "Forces you? Come on you must enjoy it just a bit" He says. "When my best friend is here it's fun, but she's not here much anymore" I tell him truthfully.
Juliet's full name is Juliet Vettel. She's Sebastian's little sister, and she used to come to every race, but since Sebastian has stopped she doesn't come often.
"Well who's your favorite driver then?" He asks me smirking. "The only one I know is Lewis Hamilton so him I guess" I lie. Well it's also kinda the truth. Lewis is the only one I pay attention to since my dad literally forces me to. But I also know other drivers. It's only drivers from the big teams though, I learn they're names from my dads angry screams.
So I also know the driver I'm talking to right now."I think you should begin supporting Ferrari, especially their amazing and really talented driver Charles Leclerc" Charles says holding back his smile. "Maybe.. I'll make sure to keep an eye open for him during the race" I answer him now having to hold in my laugh.
As we arrived at the paddock I saw my father standing inside looking at the car. "Fuck" I whisper under my breath.
"What's wrong?" Charles asks.
"My dad is going to kill you if he sees you" I quickly tell him.
"Are you sure, I could just head inside and say hi" Charles teases. "Oh your so funny huh? He would quite literally kill you, no joke" I answer seriously.Charles smirks at me, fucking hell he's really attractive. "Can I at least get your name?" Charles asks me. "Evelyn" I tell him. "Your full name" He says staring me down with his green eyes. Fuck. "You'll have to do more than that to get my last name" I tease and walk away, scared that my dad is going to see me with him. "There you are!" My father yells as I step into the paddock. "Lewis I would like to introduce you to my daughter" My father says pulling me over to him. Right besides him was Lewis Hamilton. "Nice to met you, I'm Lewis" He says putting out his hand. "Evelyn" I answer politely shaking his hand. "Oh shit, I need to go quickly" My dad says. I look at him in disbelief, he had planned this whole thing out. I guess the rules don't apply when it comes to Lewis Hamilton.
"So how come I've never met you before?" Lewis asks me.
"Well I don't really come to races often, and my dad is veryy protective so this is like my first time speaking to a driver" I answer. "I should've expected that from Toto" He replies laughing. We spoke for a bit before he had to get ready for the race. "Well it was nice meeting you Evelyn" He said before he walked away"So did you enjoy talking to Lewis?" My dad asks as he sits down next to me, getting ready for the race that starts in a bit.
"Dad you literally brown your own rule" I tell him smiling. "Rules don't apply when it comes to Lewis" He says and I chuckle at his response. As the race begun the mood chanced completely. I could see the wrinkles form in my dads face. This time my whole attention was focused on the red Ferrari."Which one of the Ferraris is that Charlie guy?" I ask my dad trying to sound oblivious. My dad looked at me from the corner of his eye, he was clearly judging me. "The one in front, but don't worry Lewis will overtake him" he answers. And he was right, Lewis did pass him. But Charles drove fantastically, at least I think so, and he placed second.
"Are we going to the podium?" I ask my father. "You usually don't want to see the podium?" My dad says. "Well it's only Lewis' home race once a year" I say coming up with an excuse. My dad hugs me and we walk towards the podium. "I knew it was the right move to introduce you to Lewis" I heard him mumble as we walked.
It was actually quite fun watching them celebrating. Lewis got completely drenched in champagne from Charles. I stared at Charles the whole time, and as the ceremony was coming to an end we locked eyes. He smiled at me and I smiled back.
And then he winked at me.I could feel the warmth in my cheeks rise at rapid speed. I panicked and looked over at my dad, thankfully he didn't notice anything. I looked back at Charles who still looked at me. I smiled and winked back at him.
