Neuvillette then spent the night in the fortress expressing himself in Wriothesley, who listened to him with close attention and gave the Iudex all the affection and reassurance he deserved. Although the duke isn't an exceptional communicator, Neuvillette appreciates that in his partner because he will cease at anything to make him feel safe and at ease.

For more than an hour, Neuvillette tells Wriothesley everything that has been troubling him lately and the reason behind his strange behavior around the duke. He conveyed to Wriothesley his encounter with Focalors and his learning of the harsh reality of all things. Her original sins, her motives for creating Furina for someone to replace her, and even his witnessing of her tragic sacrifice and passing caused his eyes to well up with tears and his voice to waver as he developed to connect the past event to his present fear.

"I vividly recall how, despite having never personally encountered her before, I became overwhelmed with grief when I beheld her death right in front of me. That let me realize that you are not someone whom I would choose to lose, and if I ever have to, I will undoubtedly experience much more torture," the Iudex stated, revealing the main cause of his current sentimental disintegration, which has been interfering with their relationship for sometime now.

"It scares me to lose you." with a single tear sliding down his cheek, he trailed off. He stood his ground and refused to appear fragile, especially in front of his partner, whom he inevitably wanted to impress, so the rest remained held.

After hearing all of this, Wriothesley needed some time to integrate the spoken words into his senses. Though he acknowledges that there is barely anything he can do to make amends for his short life, he could experience the anguish himself as well as how he does not want Neuvillette to suffer needlessly with the cause of an undue lamentation. He hates the thought of not being able to be next to the person that loves him just as much as he does when he needs him the most. That is his utmost nightmare.

It pains him even more to see Neuvillette trying to maintain a tough appearance regardless of how much Neuvillette had shown his true sentiments about the whole ordeal through his remarks. He held his breath each time the man's voice faltered, wanting to just interrupt him with a gentle embrace, yet he didn't want Neuvillette breaking into a flood of emotions and tears only to end up feeling like he had disgraced himself afterwards.

Once Neuvillette had reached his conclusion, Wriothesley raised the Iudex to his lap and wrapped his arms around the other man's torso, aware that the said man's emotional sensitivity had lowered. He buried his face in his lover's chest, feeling the pulsating beat of his heart, and gave Neuvillette an affectionate stroke on the back to reassure him a little more.

"Neuvillette, I.. I don't really know how to respond to this. All I know is that I feel so sorry for what you have and had to go through. I always thought that being an immortal would be cool and all, being able to live forever and not being able to die nor stop aging when you want to.. Yet now I feel so wrong to have thought that way." Wriothesley sympathized, brushing the edges of Neuvillette's hair gently.

"But oh, how much I'd love to spend all of my years living with you if I was one of those kinds. Even though I am not one of your kind in my current life now, I am sure you know I'm more than elated to willingly spend the rest of my short age beside you." he continued, untying Neuvillette's hair tie.

"Just remember this.. No matter how impossible this sounds, I'll keep a promise to come back for you in any way once I'm gone for good from this world. It can be through your dreams, your memories. Or to a further extent, maybe somehow I'll be reborn as an immortal or someone with immortality would reincarnate with my memory? Those may be possible if you believe in it enough." assured Wriothesley, taking a few strands of the white hair to kiss.
