Since Destoroyah's death, the Hollow Earth had regained its balance and tranquility. Kong continued to lead a peaceful life there, having established a vast territory divided into several distinct zones that he now knew perfectly well. And today was hunting day.
Under the gaze of a herd of brontosaurs quietly grazing on tree leaves and hovered over by a group of pterosaurs, Kong ran on his four steps, as fast as he could in the middle of the vast plains and grassy hills. Behind him, around thirty Wart Dogs, creatures resembling a mixture of wolves and hyenas, relentlessly pursued the great ape in order to make a meal of him. Looking over his shoulder at times, Kong was unable to outrun them and the predators were getting closer and closer. Arriving towards the edge of a ravine, Kong did not hesitate and jumped as far as he could and landed agilely with a roll on the other side, continuing his run without being slowed down too much. Unfortunately, the ravine did not stop the Wart Dogs who also jumped over it, apart from two or three who miscalculated their distance and fell into the depths.
Kong eventually enters a rocky, winding path wedged between two cliffs, still followed by the pack of creatures. But at the end, another precipice, much larger, awaited Kong who stopped at the edge, and this time, no other terrain on the other side, only an overview of the immense jungle and the land above. Trapped, Kong growled and turned around to see the Wart Dogs were blocking the only way out, baring their fangs and salivating jaws at the idea of feasting on the flesh of their prey. Kong did not let himself be intimidated, showing his teeth too and stood ready.
The Wart Dog who appeared to be the pack leader stepped forward first and leapt fiercely towards Kong, who then smirked and took a quick step back, letting the Wart Dog land on the rock which collapsed beneath. its weight, causing it to fall into a pit below and filled with sharp stakes on which the predator impaled itself, killing it instantly. A trap that Kong had set up to hunt. In reality, he wasn't the prey and these Wart Dogs had fallen for it.
Despite the death of their alpha, the other predators, intoxicated by hunger, also jumped to attack, but Kong had foreseen that. He grabbed an old tree stump and pushed it. The rope made with lianas attached to the stump stretched and released a scree of enormous rocks arranged at the top of one of the cliffs and fell like rain on the first Wart Dogs who were completely crushed. After the smoke cleared, the surviving Wart Dogs still growled, not giving up. Kong then knew how to make them leave. Grabbing the carcass of one of the Wart Dogs and brandishing it above him, Kong used his physical strength to tear the body in two with extreme violence, letting all of the creature's blood and green guts spill out and cover him while letting out the fiercest and intimidating roar. Faced with this demonstration of force and the furious eye of the great ape, the rest of the Wart Dogs became frightened and abandoned their pursuit, fleeing at full speed.
Rather satisfied with his hunt today, Kong smiled but soon sniffed a strong and bad smell, then saw that it came from all the blood that covered him. Grimacing in disgust, Kong knew there was only one thing to do.
After a good shower under the waterfall in his lair, to remove all the blood and pieces of guts embedded in his fur, Kong was finally able to eat. Dragging two carcasses of Wart Dogs to the edge of a rocky overhang, Kong sat comfortably, contemplating for a moment the majestic and magnificent landscape that he certainly saw every day but which never tired him. In the immense valley that made up its territory, life was in full swing, flocks of birds of all kinds flying towards other horizons while herbivores ate in peace in the immense wilderness. This vision sometimes reminded Kong of Skull Island but he did not regret his new home and he did not return to the surface, thus respecting his pact with Godzilla. The surface world was too small for two alphas.
Tearing off a Wart Dogs paw, Kong bit into it but a sharp pain made him grunt. For some time now, one of his canines had been causing him more and more pain and this was causing major problems when eating and sometimes it was preventing him from sleeping. But as he looked towards the horizon again, a much sadder thought came to Kong's mind, accompanied by that deep feeling of loneliness that had been coming up more and more often lately... All this time that he was here, he had searched tirelessly, going to the limits of his territory, but he had found nothing that resembled him. However, deep down he never stopped feeling this need to belong to a group. Was he really alone in this world? Besides, he missed Jia too and he didn't know when she would come back from the surface. Kong didn't even notice the big quadruped lizard, Doug, who had come discreetly from behind and started dragging one of the carcasses to devour it. Usually, Doug had to fight with the monkey to get a piece from him, but he seemed surprised to see that Kong wasn't even paying attention to him. Saddened by this feeling and groaning in pain because of this cursed infected tooth, Kong no longer had the taste for a good meal and remained seated in his dreary solitude.
