Haven, Jade, and Esme loved Calista so much, but there was one aspect they disliked about her. She was incredibly good at keeping her struggles concealed. Calista was always there for them whenever they reached devastating points in their lives, but she never let them in whenever she was the one who experienced it. They respected her and waited until she was ready to open up, but she was so good at shifting topics when they tried.

There was no hope in her eyes anymore, those soft brown eyes that used to fill her with so much happiness. Her friends knew she was desperate to return that optimistic and energetic golden retriever in her, but unfortunate situations happened constantly. Calista felt like she and her friends' lives were meant to be misery, and none of them couldn't escape it.

Jade kept rambling to keep Calista awake as they reached the Hospital Wing. Madam Pomfrey was terrified at the injuries the youngest Ravenclaw had. It was so bad to the point she showed signs of insanity like trembling and hallucinations. Her spine was broken when Jaehwa crushed her body to the drawer. Calista had to force 3 bottles of healing potions to heal her spine and subside the pain.

Calista never thought to hate hospitals until her exposure to corpses, blood, and sweat. Her eyes closed, and her right forearm rested against her forehead, feeling drowsy from the potions she consumed. Esme was exchanging conversations with Madam Pomfrey, asking what she and her friends could do to help Calista once she's out of the Hospital Wing.

Haven heard the news from Jade, and she couldn't stop worrying. She was desperate to visit Calista, but Esme advised both her and Jade to stay in their dorm. They also decided to skip the astronomy class since Calista was more important to them. They wouldn't focus well during lectures, and they knew they could make it up to the next session.

"The Hogsmeade visit can wait," Esme said as she sat in the chair next to Calista's uncomfortable bed.

"How long will I stay here?" Calista asked weakly.

"Just tonight, the potions helped. It would've been a week if we were not wizards," Esme answered and crossed her arms.

Neither of them spoke for a few seconds. Esme quietly stretched her wrist and did not make a painful sound. Calista's breathing returned to normal, and her headache got worse.

"I feel bad for her, you know?" Calista spoke up in a croaky voice. The screams she let out from the torture and her brief insanity got through her badly. "Joohyun unnie, she lost her dad and sister.

"We all lost someone important. Her dongsaeng was funny," Esme commented as her serious and frustrated expression turned dejected. I miss my family.

"How does it feel to have a sibling?" Calista asked her before she slightly opened her eyes to see the Busan witch. Calista was the only child in the group.

"Sometimes you wanna kick them, but sometimes you need them. It's more fun if you're older than them because you can boss them around, annoy them, and tease them until they cry. A sibling could also understand you better than anyone when things get rough. It's like all of us." Esme explained with a sad smile, reminiscing her most memorable moments with her family.

It was silent, but Calista could hear and feel the pain they carried in their shoulders. Family was so important to them. For Calista, the last time she saw her father's face was when he brought her to a safe place in Jeju province. He promised to come back and pick her up, but she received the heartbreaking news that he had disappeared.
