We are going to start with a prayer so we can open our hearts and minds to what the Lord wants us to know today as you and I learn more about His Holy Names.
Dear Lord, thank you for another day today. I just want to lift up the person on the other side of this screen. That you may encounter them in a mighty way. That the words that we go over today in your word, that the words may be able to understand and be able to comprehend. Thank you for this person on the other side of the screen, thank you for their beautiful life. Thank you for their passion for wanting to know who you are. Bless this time together and bless them today. In your precious and holy name, Immanuel we pray, Amen.
Read Isaiah 7:13-14.
The context of this chapter is the kings in Israel and Syria were trying to remove the king of Judah. His name was Ahaz. King Ahaz had been portrayed as an evil king that ruled for 16 years. He and Isaiah were having a conversation in Isaiah chapter 7. King Ahaz did not believe that God would send him a sign of this Messiah. In verses 13 and 14, Isaiah says to the Ahaz that there will be a king, born from a virgin, and he will be called Immanuel. That he will be a just king knowing right from wrong.
Immanuel, what does it mean?
Immanuel means God with us.
In the context of this chapter in Isaiah, He is telling us that God will be with us in the near future speaking of the birth of a new king that will reign over all. Showing how a real king should rule. All because of this story, a lot of people thought that Immanuel would be a mighty solider or general to take over the Romans. But we find our he was born as a baby, a innocent baby.
Because we have records of his miracle working power, there are so many signs of how GOD WITH US is possible in the life of Jesus Christ. He is Immanuel and He is with us. He is the same today, yesterday and forever. He died for us and rose from the dead so that we could be with Him.
God came down to be with us so that we could be with Him.
We must humble ourselves before Him. He is with us. His name, Immanuel will always and forever be a name that is always present. He is always present.
